fill me in on "hatch" peppers
thought that was a region

do you get them from farmer's markets or something?

I see that brand in the stores here.
They are from Hatch, NM and i think is some kind of hybrid chile pepper. They can be mild like poblano, or fairly hot. They are only available for like a month in the summer. It’s a big deal, tons of restaurants, grocery stores, and farmers market stuff. We usually go spicy, but mild or spicy they are great for cooking and salsas. Love them. When the season is winding down, places will roast what’s left so people can have stuff ready to freeze. People stock up so they can have them outside of the one month.

Nice, thanks
stocking up is the way to go

I make sure to roast, then skin, and then freeze almost all of our harvest.

Then you are cooking with top shelf peppers all year long till the next harvest.

Adequate drainage is crucial for potted citrus. Citrus likes sandy, loamy soil, so if you have some sand around when you plant it in the ground, you might want to mix it in with the ground soil.

The plant keeps growing so you're obviously doing a good job. And yeah if the roots are coming out of the holes on the bottom of the pot then it's time to repot.

The reason citrus is so rarely grown from seed is that seedlings have a mind of their own. You might get a plant that is equally as productive as its parent plant but you also might get a plant that takes 10 years to bear fruit, a plant that bears small or infrequent fruit, or a plant that never bears fruit at all. I hope for your sake though that the garden gods are kind.

BGI Citrus Gain is a good fertilizer. Has all the minor elements citrus needs. Someone in a Florida citrus nursery recommended it to me.
I’m in business now! Gonna feed that calamansi tonight and make it a goddamned fruiting rockstar (in a couple years hah).

I’ve been contemplating about eventually transferring it to one of those whiskey barrel planters (or something larger like that). When I had the first tree, it was in the ground. And although we don’t get too many freezes, it did get fucked up a couple times from a hard freeze. Knocked a good bit of it off. I figure the planter would at least make it possible to move in the winter.

Nice! Mine does when I use butter for manly wing sauce. Lol...
My first ever habeneros are getting closer. Let's see how they stand up against those weak ass chain store peppers. See if I can add this picture.
Those look great, I am certain they will blow store bought out of the water.

I hope. Lol... I just can't wait until the ghosts bloom. If you like hot, check out puckerbutt farms. That's the dude that bred the reaper, and now the pepper x. Buy you some seeds for next spring. I may even do some indoors with my old bud lights.

We've been harvesting our own seeds the last few years and are growing with those now. I have very good luck with ghost peppers, we fill 5 gallon buckets of them in september/october

I bet your venison chile is amazing!
OHHHHHHHHHH it is. My wife was wanting our son out of her belly towards the end of her pregnancy, she was a week past her due date. I made some chili mac and within 30 min of eating it we were getting ready to have a baby.

I went with anal, but I enjoy both. Lol
