Disgusting.
Look for an executive to be in the news in scandal.

i have 3.

i'm glad i watched this movie.
As a father of a young son I am curious what makes you glad you watched it? I'm sure our perspectives would be different just due to our children. I have to imagine the concerns I have for my son vary to some degree from what concerns you have for your daughters.

i don’t get why people are reposting images and videos of what they feel is basically child porn.
this is a very important scene in the movie. Without context, it's salacious.

if you want to say that anyone posting clips without context is posting borderline kid porn, I can agree with that.

i think it might be more important to see it if you have sons.
Your son is the one facing statutory rape charges and/or child support for the next 20 years.

there are several aspects to the story, i'd be surprised if you didn't gain insight from one of them.

it's about how adolescents in difficult situations look to take a short-cut to adulthood, and the specific short-cut of sexaulization.
it's not an old story, but it is important to understand the nuances of a modern age.

hope that helps.

Maybe I will sit down to watch it with the wife. Thanks.

when i saw some Congressman wanted to ban it and charge Netflix with distributing kiddie porn, I figured it was my duty as a voting adult to see what the ruckus was about. That legislator hasn't watched the movie, guaranteed.

It seems that most of the people screaming about it either haven't watched it OR are perverted pedo's themselves who just see the little girls.

So watching it in full makes it not CP?
But posting a clip from the movie is CP?

??

Seems contradictory...and no I haven't watched and won't watch...not my type of content, harmless or not

Ok, will take your word for it

Not my type of content

I don't even like love stories in my movies haha
i used to bitch about prosti-tots and sexual exploitation of kids without understanding the mechanism as well as I do after seeing the movie.

now my bitching is more nuanced.

All I can say is that it must be tough being a parent in this day and age with so much content a few button presses away.
Parents beware.

Speaking in general not about this specific content.

Would you allow your 11 year old to watch it?

But in the children's world that is pretty much what is happening. They aren't discussing the lesson to be learned. They are snickering and making jokes about the clips.

I formed this opinion after talking to my teenagers. A friend of mine brought the movie up this weekend.

My son's opinion is that it is disgusting and is just providing "candy" for pedos. I brought up that the concept of the movie was to show how disgusting it is. He hasn't seen the movie (and says that he won't) but things he's seeing shared between teens (on social media) about the movie are the glamorous clips and inappropriate comments, none of the "lesson learning" issues brought up or discussed. His final thought was that the lesson should have been taught in a way that didn't provide the visual material to be so freely used in inappropriate ways.

I have mixed emotions about this. I remember my dad having a fit when my sister went to see the movie 'Little Darlings'. However, my sister loved it and every teen girl that actually saw the movie did, too and came away with the clear moral of the story.

That being said, I do know that some of the clips that I have seen clearly fit the legal description of child pornography. We shall see if 'in the name of art' will save them.

If it doesn't, Lord help us all. It will open a dark door, imo.

I'm back to not watching it.
