Can somebody run me through the basics that's happening here?

There appears to be a lot of proxy to this conflict. I don't know much about it other than the longstanding Turkish Armenian beef.

What's happening and what does this mean for geopolitics?

Assholes are killing each other.
Nothing, they are insignificant.

@Prison Rape Survivor gave a fairly good summation of the conflict

geopolitically it doesn’t mean too much unless the Turks decide to go on another genocide. The world would have to acknowledge it this time. Russia is pro Armenia in this conflict so far, but that’s mostly an effort to blackball them into abandoning the West. They sell arms to both but Azerbaijan also buys from the Turks. Russian officials are making overtures at attempting to broker a ceasefire. They probably won’t furnish Armenia with extra arms as Azerbaijan does a lot to protect ethnic Russians and they want to exert control over both. Unless Armenia goes completely off the rails and attacks Turkey and Turkey invokes Article Five, no one else from NATO will get involved.

I see this as a win / win situation. We need to sit back and let nature take its course
