A lawyer friend (for context) feels that this move will galvanize an anti-trump vote insuring his loss.

I'm not sure of that accuracy but Trump and GOP have been pretty muted on this. They are just pushing it through. Tried to do it over weekend.
And who is your lawyer friend voting for? Would he feel the same way if the democrats did it? It's not like they wouldn't have, and been more aggressive in doing so. Look at everything that the democrats have done over the past 3.75 years. Hostility to the new president and everyone working for him encouraged. Chase them out of private businesses when they eat. Harass them and gather a crowd? Impeachment over nothing. Encourage looting and rioting in the streets, blanket the action as peaceful protests, all the while telling police to stand down. Get rid of ICE, get rid of the border, get rid of the police. Puch abortion to the point of infanticide, literally. What's with the left and abortion anyways? News media blackouts over actual stories. Big tech deleting news and silencing those with opposing views. The list really goes on and on here. Corruption within the FBI, CIA, IRS, all to do away with republicans. That party isn't even recognizable any more. Blows my mind why anyone could vote for that nonsense.

I assume Dems as most lawyers seem to do. All the more reason I think he has his finger on the pulse of what moves that side of the votes.

I was mostly a comment on the politics of the move.

If you get her through and then lose the Senate and White house, you risk neutralizing her addition.

The dems haven't been secret about wanting absolute power. This move does nothing to that agenda. Making DC a state, Puerto Rico, dividing California and maybe New York for more senate seats. This is the dem wish list, and expanding the courts has been discussed for a long time, even when they had the power. What's hilarious is the argument that Trump is packing the courts. He's simply doing his job, and it's his right to do so. If he wanted to pack the courts he could have gone with expanding the supremem court to 20 seats, 100 seats, whatever. He didn't. He filled vacancies. Dems have been having diarrhea over the 9th circuit no longer being their way to legistate for the country for a while now. Shame on Obama, and Obama's advisors for not thinking through appointing judges.

Honest question. How is Amy Coney Barret not an "activist judge" as my talk radio always tells me the left want to put in there?
Are these all pretty handedly political picks? who was the last broadly accepted Justice?

Has she changed or voted against any super precedents? I'm unaware if she has. Was she most qualified for the job? No. Trump went with a woman to replace a woman. He didn't paint himself into a corner and only select from black women, but he did limit his choices. She is qualified though.

I see a theme there with Republican presidents and their picks, as opposed to democrats with the exception of John Roberts.

Politics is different now, and Democrats are playing full contact hockey while republicans are playing friendly golf.

Amy Coney Barret getting in is the literal best thing that could have happened.

Because they weren't galvanized before?
For 4 years it's been nothing but Trump hatred from the media - but this gets them off the fence?

Nah. I don't think Trump is winning, but this isn't why. Dems will likely exand the court anyway when Harris gets in there.

I'd hate to see your whining and tears if you actually lost.
