The winning side usually get to choose the Prime Minister, but it's not a must.
It's a widespread political spectrum with all these parties, so there must be compromise to lead.
so in short every one get's a bit of what they want, and a bit of what they don't want.

I saw, this is dumb, count all the votes per the states rules.
Hopefully this highlights the need for federal elections to be federally run so everyone is playing by the same rules.

this . as a foreigner trying to follow the election cycle it makes zero sense. right from the get go with super tuesday and different states voting differently and the ridiculous iowa caucus .it would make way more sense with a universal set of rules for the entire country to play by
Agreed, let the states run state and local elections how they see fit, but federal elections should all be on the same page. Granted these changes should not be made during the election season.
