More goal posts moving. First it was rona would go away after the election, that hasn't happened so we need more excuses.
They announced a vaccine.
That IS Rona going away after the election.

have they made preliminary estimates on when they're going to release the vaccine?

Pretty much everybody has spitballs that we will see a vaccine for the earliest highest risk like first responders sometime next spring and probably not see mass vaccine availability until third quarter next year.

Does this change that at all?

I've long stated that Covid has been politicized. And it was a leading voting concern for most Americans.

If you take the worry of Covid off the table, suddenly it's more about getting the economy back on track. If you don't think that favors Trump I don't know what to tell you.
According to exit polls, it was only the third-most important issue amongst voters. The first? The economy.

I'm not arguing that Trump lost because of his terrible response to the pandemic. I've been saying for about a month that it was why he would lose.

But it didn't have as big of an impact as I'd anticipated.

I'm just asking what Pfizer themselves benefits from by potentially tipping the election one way or the other and why they would hold their vaccine announcement until today.

If anything you make a good point that because Corona virus became politicized (significantly thanks to the president himself) there may be some calculation here that Pfizer did not want to release right before the election and view themselves furthermore politicized.

I'm trying to come up with reasons on why they would wait until after the election.
I don't know. Maybe it is coincidental.

Or maybe Pfizer was urged not to release their findings until after the election.

I don't care one way or the other. Not a Trump honk at all. But the timing of the announcement is hard to ignore.

FDA said next week for emergency cases.
Feels pretty fast, but that's what I heard on the radio - so it has to be true.

Imagine that if instead of undermining his scientist, Trump simply continued to cheerlead them instead of calling them idiots while chanting a schizophrenic lack of plan. This goes well beyond just choosing which strategies to use. But actually attacking the same people that would back you that a vaccine had gone through the right trials and was safe.

Then a vaccine would not be seen as suspect and rushed. Pfizer could have released last week and Trump might have won the election.

Hauler @Hauler If I ran Pfizer my interest would be engendering confidence and as many Americans as possible that my vaccine is run through the usual safety trials.
If releasing after the election as to not be viewed as participating in that process increased that confidence, I would delay my announcement.

In the end if such a delay harm to Trump I can only blame him for such severely poor messaging. It has been fully under his watch and his words that those choices were made.

I'm not saying that it is. I'm saying that conventional wisdom would support that a large business would likely make moves in support of the most pro-business candidate. And conventional wisdom would say that that's been Trump.
So if they delayed on purpose, potentially harming Trump, something is at play that overwhelms that conventional wisdom

Correction on my previous response -
Pfizer plans to ASK the FDA for emergency authorization of the two-dose vaccine for later this month.

By the end of the year, it will have manufactured enough doses to immunize 15 to 20 million people.

This is more your field than mine. I'm just reading articles. That one was from NY Times.

That's incredibly fast if it happens.

Maybe Pfizer didn't want people to think Trump strong-armed the results.

Balance of power. Dems took presidency, GOP took the House. Eases the fear of a bunch of shit being rammed down America's throat that would cripple growth.

Also I think knowing Pelosi would now sign off on a stimulus probably had something to do with it. She didn't want a stimulus issued right before the election that would have Trump's name on it (her own words during a Wolf Blitzer interview)

I love how when the race was over there we no riots, no looting, no bullshit from the republicans, but if Biden lost it wouldve been all that. That's ok. The country will soon realize who was the real problem and who causes all the BS. Biden is lucky, he is getting the vaccine that trump rigged up, and he will ride the economic Trump wave as well unless he is a total moron and fucks it up, which is possible. The fucking guy can barely speak at this point. Kamala Harris will be the president by 2021 or 2022. Which is what the left wants.

Such a coincidence that the virus was released when it was, and that China Joe benefited so much from it and oh mail in voting, I wonder why the dems were so insistent on that happening instead of in person voting hmmmm. Oh yeah its because they controlled it and won.
