There is the game clock and the play clock, which would be akin to the shot clock in basketball.I just don't get the timer.
There are like 2 or 3 count downs.
What do they mean?
Why do they stop? And why do they carry on?
4 downs to get 10 yards. each down has a play clock.I just don't get the timer.

it's similar to pitching in baseball, but you take a run up and have to keep the arm straight when coming through

well yea but the principle is the same ie throwing a ball to a hitter/batterIts much more complicated than a pitch.
if the throw was incomplete then the game clock stopsI get that. But sometimes it stops.
40 second play clock (to snap the ball).I just don't get the timer.

I thought you can challenge as long as you have timeouts left.40 second play clock (to snap the ball).
Four 15-min quarters. Time is stopped via timeouts (3 per team per half), incomplete passes, when a player runs out of bounds, at 2:00 in 2Q and 4Q, for injuries, and for challenges (one per team per half, if a coach challenges and loses his team loses 1/3 timeouts)
nope@Zeph did you know the first gridiron football game took place in montreal between Princeton and McGill?

Unlimited? No. You may be able to challenge again if you win the challenge. I don't think so but I don't remember.I thought you can challenge as long as you have timeouts left.

Called the 2-min warning. Only stops at exactly 2:00 if the team hasn't snapped the ball yet. They don't stop live plays, they just call the two-min warning whenever the play is blown dead (i.e. player is tackled, runs out of bounds, scores, drops pass), so a lot of times the 2-min warning occurs at 1:50-something.Please explain the 2 mins thing at the end of 2q and 4q.
Is every action stopped?
You thought offense and defense used the same players.@Inside Job is a better football player den u
