Did you see the crazy pileup down there from yesterday?

I know you guys don't get ice often, but when you do maybe don't drive 80 mph.

I think they killed 6 people in that crash. Video was brutal.

Yep, some of these retards have no clue how to drive when it gets slick.

This is the truth. People in Austin drive like morons in the rain. Heavy rain = lots of accidents. Ice is that x50.

I got rear-ended (giggity) when I first moved to texas. It was raining, and the kid that hit me was like 18. It was raining hard and he was going way too fast and right on my tail. The first thing he said was “man, that was crazy I don’t know what happened, the road seemed extra slick for some reason”

no shit pal, it’s wet. He legitimately seemed surprised that his tires had less traction in the rain. Now think about those same idiots on the icy roads. My truck was fine other than a small ding on the bumper, but my hitch ball put a nice big hole in his radiator, so hopefully he learned something.

people here also think 4WD makes ice a non-issue. A lot of the accidents I see are lifted trucks with huge mud tires. Dipshits driving too fast with false confidence.

I have had 4 wheel drive trucks for about 20 years. If it's snowing, I'm worried about other people being stupid but typically have zero issues.

If it's ice on the road, I pull off and find a bar and get a burger and a coke. Fuck driving on ice.

same

I have helped some people that were stuck and said to them "hey bro/lady, you have a vehicle with rear wheel drive, a light back end, and improper tires"...Responses are usually confused as to what I am talking about and some people don't realize they have rear wheel only vehicles or how that affects control...those people are the reason you stay off the roads or keep errands/travel to a minimum.

Saw an idiot in a new red Mustang yesterday stuck on a slight upslope on the highway just spinning his tires.

I didn't confirm if he had a mullet or not but my suspicions were high.

This is what he was driving in:

Yea, people don't get that here. I may go out and laugh at the dummies spun out on Monday.

Not too bad here.
The 2 degrees on Tuesday is gonna suck, but nothing like the folks up north are getting. They have "hurts to breathe" cold.

I just watched (in the last 30 minutes) a dude in a middle lane lose control and turn into the retaining wall on the right and spin around a few times. It's straight road and it's not even slick right now. We got snow and ice but that section of road is great.

Basically... Idiots can't drive when it's dry or safe. A little ice and all bets are off.

Exactly.

That’s the issue here for me - it’s all about watching out for other people being stupid. It is often a big 4x4 that thought he could still haul ass because of his truck. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen someone driving like a dipshit in a big truck on slick roads, and then a few minutes later you see them off in the ditch or up on the guardrail. 4WD does fuck all on ice.

I learned to drive in the snow, so I know when to back off and take it easy, but this weather happens so infrequently here that most don’t know what to do and drive like normal (too fast, tail gating, not giving enough stop time, etc)
