Over the past 5 years or so, the systolic number in my blood pressure has been creeping upward. All of my life, my BP had always been around 122/74. Sometimes it was 119/72 or 123/70 or something like that. The past five years, the bottom number has remained constant while the top number has crept upward. 122/74, then 124/74, then 128/74 and last July it was 132/71.
I have made this thread because I made two and only two changes to my food intake and one supplement change. No change in weight or in exercise. The same doctor has taken my BP. I know it’s hard to use my N=1 and so on, but since November of 2020, I have had my BP measured three times and the top number has been 113, then 112, then 113. Bottom number unchanged.
I’m excited and happy. I’m making this thread just in case this might help someone. The doctors of the forum probably hate this kind of thing and I get it.
Here are the three changes: I started eating the hell out of garlic, both sautéed with onion in my expensive olive oil and also chopped up raw. I eat quite a bit daily. I ate close to none before. Second, I started eating lots of beets. Raw, chopped up. No exact measurement, just a good hunk daily, chopped up and added to my bland dinners. I eat the beet greens that are part of the stalk, too. Finally, I started taking the expensive form of CoQ-10. My doctor tells me that CoQ-10 is almost certainly a waste of my money, but I’m in charge of my health and this is what I’m doing.
I have no idea if this will last, but it has now been over a quarter of a year and my BP is the best of my adult life and possibly my entire life.
I hope this might help someone. If not, fuck off. Texas CRUSHED the winter weather with ease and has retained it ruggedly individualistic identity.
