For you insulation nerds:
pretty sure my house is R13 exterior walls and R30 ceiling. When we bought a new HVAC system a couple years ago they recommended more blow in insulation over the bats that were there. Garage has no insulation on the exterior walls or ceiling (no living space above). Garage does have insulation on the front wall with the door into the house. Single pane windows too, which is pretty common. They suck ass.
I’m pretty certain my house was built in a “cost efficient” manner....I’ve found some interesting things over the past 12 years.
