Jon fights in a division that's been horribly shallow for a number of years. He's also been big enough to fight heavyweight for everyone of those years, but he's hiding out in the redundant 205 division. It's always funny, when someone is a fan of a fighter, but honest about their accomplishments it brings out all the salty fan boys.
prime DC, prime Gus, prime Rumble, prime Glover, Bader, prime Machida, Shogun, Rampage, Prime Chael, Prime Rashad was a shallow division?

Thats true and Id love to see him pull off a win. If he beats Francis now he will have good claim to be GOAT status. However I think hes going to get wrecked. He was so succefull at LH for the most part due to his size.
I just can't pick jones to lose until he gets the L on the record first.

He is a master gameplanner and finds a way to win. He has done so for 14 straight years.

I pick Jones but this would be a really really dangerous fight for him without a doubt.

Chael was a legit top fighter in his prime. He had plenty of losses before he finally improved his jiu jitsu, but some key big wins too and good performances. Also, it's pretty obvious he threw some Bellator fights so not even going to count those in his career.

Like I said, people underrate fighters who do a trash talking character.

Colby, Conor, Chael, all underrated to some degree.

he made his pro debut in 2008 and hasn't fought since February 2020.

can you please stop increasing the time he's been undefeated into a realm only achievable with time travel?

yes all true but not at LHW, he lost to Jones as his debut, subbed Shogun which was impressive but at a time when Shogun lost 6 out of 9 bouts, then got rolled over by Rashad and left the UFC. He didn't even complete a single round.

For some reason I thought he debuted in 2006.

So he has been undefeated for 13 years. Sorry for being off by one year? lol?

"hasn't fought since February 2020"

He has also fought 7 times in 2008, 3 times in 2009, 4 times in 2011, and has never had a single gimme fight for the past 12 years since 2009. He has literally never missed a calendar year in fighting. 28 fights in his career, mostly against the very best.

"Hasn't fought since February 2020" means nothing when you have his record.

He had the Chael fight :D and he would only take that on a full camp

and sure I was splitting hairs but the time keeps getting longer, someone has to fact check fanboys once in awhile :D or next week it will be 16 years and before you know it, 20 years lol

Shogun was ranked 7 at LHW when Chael finished him. Chael beat the best of the best at MW. He was a legit top fighter when Jones beat him.

Now out of that list, he is probably on the bottom or close to it, but he is still on that list and deserves to be.

If you think Chael in his prime was a gimme fight, you do not understand this sport very well.

If you think Chael in his prime was a gimme fight, you know nothing about the sport.
did you watch that fight or his fight with Rashad?

those were about as big a gimmie fight as you could give either guy

sure getting finished early doesn't prove that but what exactly did he do afterwards? you're claiming he was in his prime then poof overnight it was gone, seems a bit convenient. He wasn't in his prime and neither was Shogun. It's debatable whether Shogun even had his prime in the UFC.

When you call a fight a gimme fight, you do that before the fight, not after the fight lol. Then you can say that Stipe was a gimme fight for Ngannou, seeing how dominant Ngannou was, when we both know that Stipe was a tough opponent on paper.

Rashad and Jones were just that good, that's why they beat Sonnen the way they did.

Also, the Rashad fight did seem a little weird, how easily Rashad took Chael down and held him there.

See here:

"Now, the TSN reports that in a new interview with Sonnen, Landsberg revealed that a source told him that the fighter had undergone colon surgery before fighting Rashad Evans at UFC 167 last month. Sonnen would not explicitly confirm that he did indeed have surgery but did say that "It's a little bit of a surprise that you had that information.""

Shogun was still good enough to be a top ten opponent when chael fought him. And shogun gave Gus a very tough fight beforehand, the same Gus that went on to give Jones the toughest fight of his career at the point, in his next fight

Wrong again. And your post is misleading.

For example. was jones himself in his prime when he fought shogun? He was freaking 23 years old and relatively inexperienced. A lot of fighters don't reach their fighter/athletic sweetspot until their 30s.

Jones was never juiced to the moon. USADA admitted they fucked up with Jones on 4 separate occasions. He is the unluckiest fighter in USADA history.

lol at you saying only 2 of those fighters were in their prime. Rashad, Machida, Gus, Glover, DC were all in their prime. And he had a total of 7 fights against them when you include the rematches

Also, who the hell did you want Jones to fight then? He literally beat everyone in his division.

Haters gon hate!!!

Jones was a heavy favorite going into the Shogun fight. Jones was on his way up, Shogun has been on his way down since Pride closed the doors.

Gus and DC were in their prime for the rematches. Gus he beat the shit out of, DC he was juicy and had the win taken away. Rashad's prime was before he fought Jones and Machida's was after. They were also both blow up MW's. Lol@ Glover being a win to hang your GOAT claims on. You're putting ho hum wins on a pedestal while ignoring that for his entire LHW career he's been the same weight as the HW champion and refused to move up. I've always loved watching Jones fight, what he does in the cage at times is incredible. His fight IQ is truly staggering, but Jones fanboys talking about the significance of his wins is hilarious.

Remember the time he turned down a short notice fight with Chael Sonnen because he was "too dangerous" to take on a few days notice?

Lies. Shogun was a short notice replacement when rashad dropped out. Jones beat Ryan Vader and got offered the fight against the champion in his post fight speech. He was nothing like a favourite. Everyone assumed it was too early and Shogun was gonna smash his legs.

Jones was a short notice replacement against shogun I mean. Shogun was champion. Jones was on the back of a win over Vader.

Fluke. Jon's biggest win was Ryan Vader shortly before. The consensus among fans was that shogun was gonna break his legs with kicks. It was too much too soon. I don't know about those odds but that was not the vibe at all from my recollection. It was all a case of too much too soon and the UFC were assholes for throwing him in too early.

"Jones was a heavy favorite going into the Shogun fight. Jones was on his way up, Shogun has been on his way down since Pride closed the doors."

And he still wasn't in his prime at age 23. And guess what? He was only fighting professionally for THREE YEARS when he fought shogun. That just shows you how good he was.

"Gus and DC were in their prime for the rematches."

Jones beat them in their primes too in the initial fights.

"DC he was juicy and had the win taken away"

Wasn't his fault: "USADA said it reduced the suspension by a further three months after a hearing with an independent arbitrator, Richard McLaren, on September 15. Travis Tygart, CEO of USADA, said in a statement: "The independent arbitrator found that Jon Jones was not intentionally cheating in this case"

"Lol@ Glover being a win to hang your GOAT claims on"

Glover is still a top LHW right now. He was always a top LHW and had was 22-2 going into the Jones fight, undefeated for 8 years, decimating all the guys he fought before Jones. What are you smoking?

"he's been the same weight as the HW champion and refused to move up"

He never missed 205 lbs and never had issues in relation to his weight. He was always a LHW. Again, what are you smoking?

"
but Jones fanboys talking about the significance of his wins is hilarious."

Yea undefeated for 13 years, beat DC and Gus twice each, beat Machida, Rampage, Shogun, Glover in dominating fashion, no biggie lmao.

" Remember the time he turned down a short notice fight with Chael Sonnen because he was "too dangerous" to take on a few days notice?"

Because I'm correct. Shogun was supposed to fight rashad. Jones stepped in on short notice after fighting Vader. None were in title contention. I don't give a fuck what those odds say, UFC saved a card by trying to.feed a youngster to shogun short notice. He was not the favourite heading into that fight and not sure he was even top 5
