He used to be awesome, he'd say something in the commentary that no one would understand and then later he'd be asked to explain it in a short clip. They called em "Big Ronisms" lol, similar to Keeganisms by Kevin Keegan, though those were just him butchering various well known phrases accidentally while commentating.
It was brutal because as a manager he was known (and respected) for developing black players at a time when racism was still really entrenched in football. I don't think modern fans realise how bad it used to be.
