Whats up everyone

So we used to have a PS subforum but due to a small amount of traffic we've decided to close it up until a time that it popular enough to get going again. I've had multiple PMs with members like lookoutawhale @lookoutawhale and Masato Toys @Masato Toys about tips on PS stuff so I thought I'd create a thread where we could all get or give some help to each other.

I used a free program called GIMP for a year a while ago and have been on the latest PS for a few months so I got lots of questions for anyone willing to help out. My main interests at the moment are wanting to be able to create posters just for fun and get better at manipulating gifs. I guess for my first request I'd like to call on Masato Toys @Masato Toys and hopefully he can start by walking me through these awesome posters he made a while back.

Feel free to go into as much detail as needed MT as I'm still pretty green. I'm looking for things like size of canvas, where to find fonts and how to install them, the fading Diaz effect.....Thanks in advance for any help you can offer and I hope to get a bunch of requests for breakdowns from others or even better have some experienced guys throw up some how to on things they've done in the past.

How to install a font

If you google "free fonts" you can find them all over the place. Here is one:

DaFont - Download fonts

Pick a font that you like. For instance say you want a bubble font, in the top right hand corner of that page type "bubble" and when you hit enter a whole bunch of bubble fonts will pop up.

Then when you find the one you like, click download and save it to your computer.

The fonts are probably in a compressed .rar or .zip form so unzip/unrar the files and move them to your Windows font directory. The default location is:

C:/Windows/Fonts

In that Fonts folder there you will see all the fonts that came with Windows. Paste the font files over there.

Now when you open up Photoshop or any other program like Microsoft Word/Powerpoint etc that font will now be available for use.

Perfect LOAW thanks for that. I think you've mentioned before that you'd consider putting together some tutorials vids (orcat least I'm hoping you will) if you ever find time just post some things that you feel have value and I'm sure people like myself would be greatful for it
;)

Do I have to pay for PS? I'm aware I can get a cracked version but I'm curious if there is a freeware option

Great thread!

I'll be happy to answer any questions I can. LOAW is way over my head when it comes to making video content but I can help with most any PS questions

I really enjoy it and would love to start exploring methods of teaching it. My wife owns an art school and a goal of mine is to get a multi-media room where I can teach people how to shoop :D

I've just been told I'll be working a bit late but if you or lookoutawhale @lookoutawhale are around to walk me through a project similar to the posters above I'd love it. I can make the thread live and just go through the steps as they are laid out.

We should make some kind of a Skype call one day for it, record it etc. I have a mic and some software to record voice and on-screen activity but I've never actually put it to the test yet

I like it. Is there a way to record what's happening on your screen and post it after the "lesson" is completed?

Yeah. I just haven't actually done it yet

I'm not very technically minded to be honest - most of that stuff is all WTF to me, I just learned to use PS out of necessity lol

But I did invest in the mic and software so I should start playing around with it more to see what's possible

this thread is inspiring me (but be patient, lol)

alright cool seems you guys have worked something out regarding how to do this. Since Masato made the original artwork he'd be best at explaining his style.

Ill let you guys do your thang!

If there are any questions i can pop in and try to answer them too.

If you're around tonight are you able to walk me through this? I'd ask MT but I don't see him online, lucky you.
