It's down to:

Bucks vs. Hawks

Vs.

Clippers vs. Suns

Thinking of the historical reputation of these franchises, this is a true battle of the B leaguers, but several top players in the league are in this quartet.

Still, Giannis is hobbling a bit, Kawhi is out, Chris Paul is out. Is it just an endurance contest? If we get a Hawks/Suns final, it will likely be the lowest rated in history, so a Clippers/Bucks final seems like the NBA's only hope.

I don't even know who Giannis is, heard his name a lot but never seen him.
I stopped following about 10 years back except for finals games.

I would think the league may have a darling in this...sometimes the officials call the games accordingly.

Who is the Darling? What team does the league need to build up. What player and franchise?

Who is the 1 seed? (home court/best record)

This is the first finals in ages that I'm actually into now. I was getting sick of the usual fucking suspects. I went for Golden State growing (back in the 90s when they were shit - dunno why except my dickhead brother supported them) so was happy the first time they won a title a few years ago. Then they became another one of those teams that signed 57 superstars on their roster and it put me off.

I'm loving Giannis. Just the whole narrative thats put out there about him. Folks moved to Greece to pick fruit, Giannis is born didnt get citizenship because of Greek laws so works as a kid to help his folks out. Some bloke travels to his rough neighbourhood and sees him and talks him into playing basketball. Gets drafted halfway in the first-round of a draft full of C graders (the 1st pick is now playing some bumfuck Puerto Rican league ffs) and with time becomes a fucking dominator. That makes me wanna go for Milwaukee.

Still though, Phoenix have come close many times to championships from back in the Barkley days. Never quite got there though. Would be nice to see them get over the line.

Clippers back when I was a kid were a laughing stock. I remember when I was 10 telling everyone I wanted to play in the NBA (I didnt play ball and was fat) and everyone used to tease me and say if I ever made it the only team I'd ever play for was the Clippers and I'd play 0.00001 minutes. Kids are wankers but it showed how shit everyone thought they were. If they win it all it would be the end of a full turnaround from clowns to champions.

Then there's the Hawks. I don't know much about them nowadays, but I know they haven't won a trophy for like 60 something years. I think 1958? I mean fuck me dead, Fidel Castro didn't even get into power in Cuba then and that cunt's dead now. So would be also good if they win.

Giannis is definitely the darling, but also earns it out there every game.

No matter what, this will be the dominance of small market teams so that's a plus. The Clippers are in a larger market, of course, but they're down 0-2 and also are undeniably the B team of LA like the Mets in NY. Though the Clippers have been down 0-2 every series this playoffs and come back so who knows. They lost last night on a crazy last second alley oop by one point.

Kawhi was only good on the raptors. I loved him. But her turned his back on Canada and now he’s a bum!

If not for Kawhi being out I'd say the Clippers. They really got their shit together at the right time.

Milwaukee has been very good but would've lost a marginally healthier Brooklyn team. But so would everyone most likely so idk.

I'll go with the Suns. I'd like to see the Hawks, though, because I love seeing Trae Young and his dad.

I hadn’t followed the nba in ~15 years but I got corona sports fever and forced myself to follow this season. Let aside all the aesthetics and gamestyle and shenanigans that annoyed me and just watched it and I liked it. The playoffs are really cool.

I initially thought the Nets vs Bucks series was a pre-final but for some reason I now believe the Bucks are not good enough. I would say Phoenix looks like the best team now but I can’t really tell how different teams match up against each other. Guess the Suns should be able to neutralize Giannis a little bit and force him to mid range shots which he sucks at.
