It really is fascinating to see two individuals who so many of us like individually, have such tension between them. It happens far too often here and unfortunately, there are some common names in more than one of those equations. I sincerely like most people here, but I'm also in favor of greater enforcement of the TOS. I'm not even saying it should be our admins - yeah, for deciding and rendering punishments it has to be them, but we could do a lot more community policing ourselves. I think most people joined this community as an alternative to the toxic negativity that overruns other forums. It we want TMMAC to be that place, we need to be disciplined in our commitment to not turning a blind eye to violations. Be the change we want to see, and all that good shit, ya know?
This post is spot on.
WE were charged with doing the policing.
We lost some good members who tried to.
But WE never implemented the abuse of tagging moderators for the purpose of discipline.
It was funny absolutely, but for the purposes of discipline, it should've been changed.
Eg: @leigh911
What happened was mods getting 400 tag messages and a community run wild.
Some people like the opinions of others, and sacrifice the totality of the picture and forum for their personal preference. There again, we invoke the integrity of the OFFICE, not the personality or opinion preference.
The ignore function has been noted multiple times.
You cannot have a community policing itself if everyone is ignoring breaking of terms of service.
The ignore function is for personal triggers.
It is not there for putting your head in the sand.
It is why I never use it.
The integrity of constitution must be maintained, or the structure it serves collapses. That is an absolute.
