Informed sources have put the figure closer to 50k. And the Taliban allegedly have 60-80k fighters.

So despite being outgunned (and even that is questionable due to purported ammunition shortages caused by corruption), the Taliban had 10-30k more men. That 20-60% advantage, paired with a stronger will to fight, meant the ADF never had a chance.
If it was all the way down to 50,000 that is new to me.

That's a hell of an attrition beyond what I knew.

The Taliban now owns the mythos. They have Islam and will tell the story of their glorious fight against the larger better funded force. That's a hell of a lot more attractive to future recruits than what's been served but the Afghan government for 20 years.

So what incentive could NATO and/or the Afghan government provide that could have roped together various villagers with no significant Afghanistan identity?

Anyone know how pervasive hatred for any neighboring country is? Pakistan?

that would be the opposite of the way we drew the borders when we colonized those areas to exploit their resources.
the battle between us, China, and Russia for that area is about who gets to puppeteer those in charge of the fake nation.

You notice you don't see any images/videos of ADF soldiers surrendering en masse?

It's possible they all changed into civilian clothes and tried to escape. 60,000 Iraqi soldiers/policemen did as much when they lost Mosul to 1,500 ISIS militants.

It's also possible that the number of Afghan soldiers was nowhere near 100k, much less 200k.

So...forward thinking...

We'll be worse off in the near future than we were 20 years ago? So not only did the war NOT help, the end result was a net negative?
