I haven't bothered looking it up yet. I was giving firsthand experience of public school rules in the 90s and early 2000s.
Everyone was required to stand for the pledge. There were religious exemptions. I had one Jehovah's Witness in my kindergarten class who didn't stand. That's the only exemption I remember.

School still order children to stand for the pledge of allegiance. But children have had the right to refuse for most of the last century. Many many cases on this. Interestingly it seems like a new one pops up every few years here in Texas. It's kind of funny that no matter how many times it's reiterated by the courts teachers and school districts haven't gotten the message and still try to punish children requiring yet another court case.

Imagine how many of those could have been identified and calmly moved out without much effort ahead of time.
If you help us for years at the risk of your own life, You should be owed safe Haven on request.
Even tangibly, making sure we are offering that kind of thing is a soft power move When we recruit help for future assistance elsewhere.
