I understand that this is a difficult thing to be open about, in a community like this.

I'm a fan of this kid.

A year ago, I hated him just like most of you do.

Now, he's grown on me. He's got half the UFC roster and all of the fanbase reacting to everything he says and does, he's out-earning everyone except Conor. His brother who can't fight even a little bit, is cashing millions vs Floyd. He has two sports wrapped around his finger. And he's never even competed in one of them full stop, and never competed against a professional in the other. :laughing:

I'm entertained. The guy is charismatic, he's speaking a LOT of truth, he's putting himself out there to fail spectacularly, and he can actually fight a bit. He's been in the gym a lot for a fair amount of time now, working with championship-level training and sparring. He's giving respect to the sport of boxing. I think he'll surprise some people vs Woodley. I'm enjoying the show.

Anyone else want to step up and say that they're enjoying the Jake Paul circus?

im a fan of jake as a fighter. im actually a fan of logan as a human now (even before his fight. listened to a couple podcasts, and he's a solid dude)

both of those changes surprise me

I don't know anything about Logan, but I've listened to a couple of interviews with Jake. The one he does with True Geordie is good.

He talks a lot of sense. He lays everything he's doing flat on the table. He laughs about how he can't believe that all of these people are falling for all of his trolling and lining his pockets because of it, while simultaneously they fail to recognise that as a fighter, he is already good, he's getting better, he's willing and able to spend the money for world-class individually focused training, and he's excited about doing that and about putting serious work in over the long term and competing at a serious level.

Whatever else anyone thinks about him, the guy has demonstrated a monster work ethic coupled with massive ambition and comfort in the spotlight. He's a good natural athlete, he's only 24, and he's going to surprise some fight fans before this ride is over.

absolutely. he's not unbearable as i was under the imrpession he was (or maybe he used to be)

but if you ever get a chance, listen to one of logans podcasts. his co-host are almost unbearable. so warning in advance. but logan is head-and-shoudlers cooler than jake, while still being a marketing allstar

jake's shtick is technically a little better than logans. and id hang with jake for a day. but id hang with logan for a week long vacation. cool dude

Yeah Jake is still an arrogant annoying dick, there's no doubt about that.

But he is a lot more mature than I assumed he is. And he says it flat out on the Geordie podcast, that he grew up on camera and has lived a surreal life and has done a bunch of stuff that he now thinks was fucked up. He said that he understands that everybody is inclined to hate him, and that even he hates the version of himself from two years ago. :smile:

But yeah - good athlete, monster work ethic, massive ambition and initiative, obsessive fuck you if you say I can't do it just watch me type personality, comfort in the spotlight, access to the best training and he seems dead serious about it - he's going to get pretty good, pretty quick.

Note - I am NOT picking him to win a belt, though. Just for the record.

Lol, once he knocked out Ben I was all in.. we always talk about how we miss PRIDE and they had plenty of freakshows. I like watching weird fights. This is no different to me.

Can we get anybody on record with a prediction that ISN'T:

"Woodley wins every time no problem, I knew that all along and called it perfectly..... unless Jake wins, in which case it was always going to be a fix and I knew that all along and called it perfectly."



Because it seems like quite a few posters are buttering their bread on both sides for this one.

Me? I'm perfectly happy admitting that I am totally clueless about how this one will play out, and I'm looking forward to watching it. I give Paul credit for putting himself out there. Woodley is a fucking beast to be getting in there with for your 4th pro fight, headlining in front of an international audience of millions.
