Do they have to prove provocation? I thought it (self defence) was all based off how the person acting in self defence felt at the time?

if KR pointed his firearm at Rosenbaum unprovoked, then Rosenbaum was following him to warn of an "active shooter" (or other lawful reason).
But defense has introduced multiple sources who say Rosenbaum threatened to kill KR if he found him alone, earlier in the evening. So Rosenbaum was chasing KR to execute on an actionable threat.
Prosecution could have just called Zaminski or wife, but they're both liars and PoS with pending charges for arson and vandalism (in the jury's eyes)
