But we're talking about political parties undermining democracy. The DNC making up treason against a sitting president should rate very high on that list.

Regarding the Ukraine that's actually a really interesting situation I've been reading more about lately. The average person knows very little of what happened there in 2014. Fun fact: The western governments backed some Nazis.
I was specifically talking about Trump and his cronies and not the much broader in scope debate about the general corruption of others.

As to which leaders supported Nazis, I'm not sure how it's germane?

The broader conversation is about political parties undermining democracy, not just Trump's cronies. Some members believe it's a one way street, but it most definitely is not.

Just a thought when you mentioned the Ukraine. The corruption and foreign interference goes deeeeep.

We take these groups, keep the good intentions and remove the bad, throw in music and catering, we could turn everything around...
I think what I find most frustrating about all of this is how shockingly similar all of these groups are, but rather than focusing on their similarities, they focus on their differences.

Everybody leading with their feelings.

"Don't think with your feelings" should be a National campaign. Instead, we get:

I think it would benefit people greatly to always look at their initial emotional reaction and then ask themselves "Okay, why is this reaction wrong?" That's not to say someone is often going to be 100% wrong, but it's going to at least make you realize that you're almost certainly over reacting and that you need to at least try to see things from other people's perspectives because what seems irrational to you, seems completely rational to the person you're judging and vice versa.

This is my gut judgement.
My gut judgements may be wrong and are open to adjustment as information warrants.
I'm not married to my opinion and changing it is a chance for growth.

Expressing my opinion in a respectful way is going to keep the conversation alive better than being a jackass about it.

These are the cornerstones of a return to adult sanity.

I actually once almost choked to death eating raw ramen, I was drunk and walking down some stairs awkwardly and a piece got stuck. My roommate was a lifeguard and saved me.

i had been making fun of GWB for choking on a pretzel A few days earlier

You just treat it like a scientology salesman. You get greet them with friendliness, easy enthusiasms, positive energy.

And you work your opinions gently into their brains. Eventually, even though they disagree with you, they might at least be able to understand your side of the argument and why.
