if you want a coach that can tank, you choose Lovie.
W/L record with the Bears was 81-63
(3) NFC championship appearances and (1) Super Bowl appearance in 9 seasons.

His time at TB doesn't count because he was cleaning up Schiano's mess and dealing with a rookie named Jameis Winston.

Kind of shitty for Flores to assume he would have been a better hire.

my dad is Bears fan. Lovie had a massive amount of talent and only managed a 56% win ratio.

those were hard years for Bears fans...like I said, if you want a guy who can lose with a stacked roster, Lovie is your guy.

Well...luckily for the Texans they aren't stacked so it's a non-issue.

difference is that Kap was blacklisted before he went public about being blacklisted.
He was blacklisted because he sucked at being a QB. Or at the very least his talent wasn't so great that the headache he brought with him was worth it.

you can't say he sucked at QB. His numbers are fantastic, he led a team to the SB and was one egregious defensive holding call from overcoming the Ray Lewis Retirement Tour. No one had enough talent to overcome the political stand that he took...but look at the NFL now, with slogans on the back of helmets and what-not.

Ron Rivera was the reason the Bears were good. They had one playoff appearance after Lovie's contract renegotiation shoved Ron and a bunch of other coaches out the door.

we're talking about the coach who traded two first round picks for Jay Cutler.

He was 1-10 the year he got benched.
There are games they lost by 20+ points where he put up less than 200 yards.

Decent backup.
Borderline starter if you have no better option.

When that comes with a headache and a dude DEMANDING to be the starter? Fuck that noise.

the team gave up 30pts a game. Tomsula was the coach.

you're attributing the Niners decline to Kap, when the inverse it true.

If you are giving up 30+ pts a game, that's a lot of offensive opportunities. Garbage time alone should net out plenty of monster games.

One example.
In a 45-16 loss to the Bills, Kaep completed 13 of 29 passes for 187 yards. LMAO.

The following week? A 34-17 loss to TB. Kaep? 16 of 34 for 143 yards. LMAO.

he was a young QB with a QB's coach under Harbs. Then they fired Harbs and brought in Tomsula and Chip Fucking Kelly.

you're talking about a weak OLine and nothing but blitz packages. Kap didn't throw interceptions, and he was fantastic until the entire team went in the dumpster after firing Harbs.

That was year 5 for him. He should be able to handle that shit by then. Obviously the league figured out he wasn't good enough to assign blitz coverages and hit hot receivers.

You are correct. He didn't throw many INTs. If I were to rewatch those games my assumption is I'd see a lot of balls thrown away into the sidelines.

For those that believed Brian Flores’ class-action lawsuit against the NFL would make him the Colin Kaepernick of coaches in the league and keep him from landing another job, he has already been held out of a head coach position in the first offseason cycle of changes since being fired by the Miami Dolphins.

The Houston Texans and New Orleans Saints hired Lovie Smith and Dennis Allen, respectively, on Monday. Smith and Allen were promoted from defensive coordinator roles on their teams.

With the Dolphins naming Mike McDaniel their new coach on Sunday evening, Monday’s two hires filled the NFL’s nine head coaching vacancies this offseason. The Minnesota Vikings’ job is technically open, but they are reportedly hiring Los Angeles Rams offensive coordinator Kevin O’Connell, who cannot officially be hired until after Sunday’s Super Bowl.
