"You guys are right, semi-automatic rifles with higher capacity magazines provide the ability for untrained individuals to kill many people easier than other tools and firearms. " - Filthy @Filthy
handguns would be more effective and require less training.

explosives would be the most effective, but require a lot more knowledge.

You can kill as many people with a car as you can an AR, it's just about choosing the appropriate weapon platform for the venue.

These is that whataboutism we love so much.
there's no whataboutism involved. I'm not blaming the British or saying "BUT THEY DID IT TOO".

just pointing out that slavery isn't a specifically American institution. It was obviously deplorable and inhumane, but it's not an indicator of how evil the founders were, especially when compared to their contemporaries.

Handguns require substantially more training with which to be proficient than long guns.
I don't think so, apples to apples (bolt action/revolver, or autoloaders). If you want to be proficient with a rifle, you need to be able to engage targets at the maximum range of the weapon.

it's a lot easier to be proficient with a handgun, and I say this as someone who's taught dozens of people to shoot.

also, you can reliably bring 30 rounds to bear with both hands using an AR.

you can also reliably bring 30 rounds of 9mm to bear with 2 hands using Glocks.

"high capacity". LoL

If that's your measure for a rifle that needs to also be your measure for a handgun, otherwise you're comparing apples and oranges.

No, it isn't, and I say this as someone who's certified as a range officer instructor and has taught hundreds, if not thousands of people to shoot.

Proficient isn't the same as "proficient enough"

No. You just need to practice them both equally.
I can have someone hitting a 10" plate target at handgun range (25 yds) using basic POA shooting in a few minutes.

no one is getting a consistent 600yd off-hand hits with an AR on a 10" in a few minutes.

"reliably"

:)
What is not reliable about one Glock with 30+ round magazines? I have multiple, and have never had a malfunction with them. I'm not talking about 50+ round drums. Glock makes 33 round magazines for their double stack 9mm pistols.

there's nothing high-capacity about 30 rds in an AR.

as I pointed out, you can get the same level of reliability out of 2 hands with Glocks.

go back to collecting dildos and leave the gun talk to the men-folk.

I'll defer to your experience. I don't own big sticks for my handguns, but I know that as magazine capacity goes up, reliability (generally) drops...consistent spring pressure and the structural integrity of magazines...
