So your logic is, “we should just keep doing what we’re doing, because other nations aren’t going to do anything”? How is it shooting ourselves in the foot if we transition to other methods of energy? Is there not opportunity for other methods of energy to yield the same amounts of money for corporations?
if your solution is worse than the original problem than yes absolutely. I am not suggesting we do nothing either. Also both nuclear and fracking brought our carbon emissions down. both things the current administration is against.
Also solar and wind have shown in Texas, California, and in Europe right this very moment. They cannot cope with the energy use required to heat us in the winter and cool us in the summer. Same problem in Africa right now where they are burning wood/dung/coal for heat. I agree there is opportunity for them to yield money but as of yet they do not and they also don't generate enough consistently reliable power.
Look into how much carbon solar panels cause. The ones in California right now are being disposed of and are leaking toxic chemicals into the ground water. In a place that already is under drought.
It's shooting yourself in the foot because you are taking actions that have negligible effects on the problem and cause far more worse ones in the immediate.
