as a white belt?Thinking I’m gonna compete for the first time next month outside Pittsburgh
Be. Fucking. Careful.Yessir
Thanks for the heads up. I’m old and got nothing to prove so I’ve got no problem tapping. I’m no hero. I got 8 months in is all. But yea that’s good advice.Be. Fucking. Careful.
the worst injuries I've seen in BJJ happen at local tournaments in the white/blue divisions.
you can't trust your opponent not to slam you on your head or retard spaz on a submission or escape.
how goes the tourney prep? Thanks for the heads up. I’m old and got nothing to prove so I’ve got no problem tapping. I’m no hero. I got 8 months in is all. But yea that’s good advice.
Getting used to the 6 minute rounds. Not sure if this one is gonna happen. We may be looking for one a bit more local. But it’s crazy how much just planning on competing ups the training.how goes the tourney prep?
you don't really win your division unless 2nd and 3rd place are too injured to take their spot on the podium
Stop using your head as an escape tool.
Drained it once. It’s filled again about time for another.Stop using your head as an escape tool.
drain it, pinch it, tape it.
where headgear for a couple weeks.
I was going to say "stop using your head as a weapon", it's either trying to get out or get in that fucks your ears.Drained it once. It’s filled again about time for another.
I use my head a ton. Offensively a lot.
feet aren't too bad. Occasionally I'll get mat burn or tear open the bottom of my dominant big toe. But yea I use my head a a lot to move my opponents head, body, and arms.I was going to say "stop using your head as a weapon", it's either trying to get out or get in that fucks your ears.
I know a bunch of wrestlers that hate their ears, wish they would have taken care of it when they were younger.
you can put some Aquafor on your ears and neck (tops of your feet, depending on how you use your toes) to keep from abrading your skin and delaminating your cartilage.
everybody goes through that phase, AKA "Bulldozer Blue Belt". I think maybe because we only know one or two ways to get to a better position or a submission, and our head is the only free appendage to move things. Eventually you figure out that wherever you put your head, you put your neck, and if someone is slick enough or sees it coming they'll choke the shit out of you. I think around the same time I started to figure out other paths or saw other openings...if you find yourself using your head, maybe let it be an indicator that you should be working on a transition.feet aren't too bad. Thanks for the info. I try to use it middle of the chest/to squish a face down from top/side control. That or to try and bait an Americana/arm triangle.everybody goes through that phase, AKA "Bulldozer Blue Belt". Neck injuries from using your head are no joke, they can keep you off the mat for months.
