Border states have been negatively impacted by prolonged federal inaction. I look at this as both a political statement and a cry for help. DC has only received a tiny % of what the border states are dealing with every day and they have already called in the national guard.
I feel bad for anyone fleeing their country looking for a better life, but they're probably better off in DC where there aren't as many newly displaced folks. But you're right - that's not why Abbott and Co are doing it.
