Anyone think this thread would be better if he removed some of his hands so he wouldn't post?

ridiculous that weight cutting is still part of the sport.
What's the solution? More frequent testing? Hydration levels?

Some of these dudes who make weight from a massive cut look like different people 1 day later at the fight.

It's a flaw in the system.

Abolish 205, and have 10 pound increments from 125-195.

Doesn't stop cutting.
It strongly discourages it by virtue of making it unnecessary. I'd also like to see hydration tests and draconian punishments for those who miss weight. Punishments for missing weight should be progressive. The farther off your weight is, the stiffer the penalty.

I'm not opposed to different weight classes, I just don't think it really solves the cutting issue.
Instead of dropping 1 weight class, we'll have fighters trying to drop 2 or 3.

Hydration level testing feels like the easiest solution. Keeps the fighters closer to their natural weight.

The issue with hydration tests is that you'll eventually get people just underweight all the time. Which will be within the rules, but unhealthy because eating disorders.

They won't have a very successful career living that way.
If they are always underweight, there's no real benefit to cutting. They will just be lighter, less powerful versions of what they could be and likely get rocked by someone who is naturally fighting at that weight.

You're overestimating the intelligence of professional athletes and underestimating their dedication.

I'm also very in favor of open weight classes.

you weigh as you walk into the cage.

you take away that advantage they get cutting by weighing as you walk into the cage or ring. noone is gonna cut and make yourself sick to weigh the same as the other guy. it puts both guys/gals at the same weight when fighting. zero advantage to cutting. much healthier fighters fighting in the best shape they can be in.

That works if you think fighters still wouldn't cut.
I think that would just result in fighters cutting down and having zero recovery time. Not good.
