I’m glad the “administration” been alll over this with that press conference about how the emergency teams are being set up and how they will give full assistance with all resources deployed

at least the wind is blowing in the other direction
Yeah. I'm sure that's part of the Ohio River Valley so the spilled chemicals will eventually make their way down here. Should hopefully be pretty diluted by then.

I'm not on city water anyway (roof catchment) so we're fine, but I wouldn't want to be immediately downstream of this crash.

I've heard plenty of fish and animals are already dead.

It is weird that the big dawgs have been mostly silent on this clusterfuck.

Checks Norfolk stock...
Largest shareholders are Vanguard, JP Morgan and Blackrock.

As you were...

ya there are lots of people posting dead fish and chickens on twitter . it also looks like that is a pretty big watershed

i spent about 11 years as a chemical formulation technician . there is a whole lot they arent telling you here . yes the vinyl chloride burned off but what does it become after combustion? when it comes in to contact with water it will become hydrochloric acid . it will change the pH of the water and kill fish ,frogs etc . what is in the other train cars? there are 5 cars of vinyl chloride but no mention of other chems involved .what is the sludge , ashes or whatever is left over made of? even common household items turn carcinogenic when heated to high temps . it is literally in your MSDS papers at what point things metabolize as formaldehyde . your shampoo in your shower will turn to formaldehyde at a certain temp so what does pure industrial chemicals do? what has leached in to the ground? what is in the water ? what is in the air and at what concentrates? where did it go ? has any ash fallen? what happens when that ash gets wet from rain or morning dew? what is the pH of the ash ? this is a big problem

Looks like heavy rains in Ohio on Thursday.

Weird Al needs to do a Prince parody.

"I only want to see you melting in the acid rain.
Acid rain, acid rain..."

How much hydrochloric acid does it take to fuck up a gallon of water, a stream, a river, a lake, a raindrop...?

How much was released?

Half Life?

that would depend on the concentration of acid added to the water . the big problem is a small amount would drastically change the pH of the water . pH down for pools or hydroponics is phosphoric acid which is much weaker than hydrocholric . a drop or two would change the pH by several points in a gallon. a weak concentration itself isnt toxic. you can buy hydrochoric acid capsules at most health food store . they say the solution to pollution is dilution so hopefully the river dilutes the fuck out of it . i would be more worried about ash falling on farm land and changing the pH of the soil or the cloud mixing with storm clouds and causing acid rain
