Rookie Luis Gil broke a Yankees record today that was previously held by El Duque, Orlando Hernández, who was at the game to throw out the first pitch. Gil ended with 14 K's in six IP which is the most K's in one game by any Yankee pitcher as a rookie. The previous record was 12. Gil got the W allowing one run with the Yankees up 6-1 which was the final score.
