Lamar choked that game away with horrible passes. One that was high and lucky to be caught, another high one two feet out of the back of the end zone, another that was five feet away from his intended target.

That may be the difference between him and Mahomo. One is great under pressure and the other one flat out sucks under pressure.
On the other hand though Mahomes(really the Chiefs) were lucky it didn't go to OT. They didn't put B-More away after B-more wasted 3 quarters. They should not be happy with their performance.

Scratch that, it was not going to OT. B-More was gonna go for that 2 and have a chance to seal that game.

KC should be wiping the sweat off their foreheads on that one.

Lamar's first half passing chart. Like I thought, they were not attacking the middle. You are not gonna open things up for your passing attack if this is all you are willing to do. Defenses will allow this all day and be happy you elected to not actually attack them. Todd Monken can't do this going forward.

Yeah but it's week one, KC will take that win any way they can get it and only get better as the season goes on.

There's no fixing a quarterback who can't deliver in big moments.

Thats seems like 2 different takes that dont fit. You say there is no fixing Lamar but it also is only week 1? Am I understanding that right? It is late.

My thoughts...

Baltimore has the goods. They showed that they can move the ball and score with sheer willpower when they want to. I am very sure the technical mistakes they made will be corrected. This was a very motivated Championship caliber team that they competed with. Knowing this game was first on the schedule pushed the defending Champions to work really hard, wanting to be prepared for the challenge.

Likely is a dynamic TE and is gonna be a problem for NFL defenses. So hard to cover that guy. He is a superb talent. The Ravens still have so many options to create innovative attacks as an offense. They will be hard to stop all year. It will require teams to take advantage of the inexperienced offensive line and even then it won't be easy. Flowers is a superstar. He is a shot of adrenaline for this offense.

KC will use better defensive plans when push comes to shove, for now they have proven they can be tough and physical while being a scheme based contender. There will always be excellent play calls and game planning when it matters. Jawaan Taylor is struggling quite a bit. I thought he would be better when we signed him. He is on a huge contract, which he did earn, but he has to clean his game up somehow.

I wish I had All 22 so that I could dissect each players performances a bit better. It did appear like Kingsley Suamaitia did pretty well in his debut. The Ravens edge guys are not bad at all.

All in all, both teams will clean up some things, and will have really good records before they most likely meet again....right?

The guy is a 2 time league MVP. He's a pretty good QB. He's not Mahomes because well no one is Mahomes but for a QB who's can't be fixed almost any team would love to have him outside of a few select teams.

This game needs to be given context. B-More played like shit for 3 Quarters and Lamar blew 2 throws. Someone had to win and its more that B-More lost the game than KC won it.

I don't think they played like shit. And I doubt I'm the only one. That offense and defense played tough. It took a lot to keep pace.

NFL+ Premium will have the All-22 in a few days. That is if you wanna pay for it.

Im mostly speaking offensive wise. That passing chart is awful however. They played like shit because of bad gameplanning with those calls. They played tough sure but they kept ramming their heads against the wall so to speak by not testing the KC defense in the middle and deep. Into the 3rd and Lamar's Adot being 1 yard is insane. There is no excuse for that.

They did what KC would want them to do. That's playing like shit.

Maybe, but it is likely they are learning and not digging so deep before the game really means something. Gotta save their best for the must win. It's what Champions do. I really think that is a lesson the Chiefs have been teaching and maybe, just maybe Baltimore is listening.

Champions save stuff in the tank sure but they also win. B-More didn't win...saving your best for later and lose in a sport with 17 games and only 1 team getting byes in the playoffs are stupid.

Also....

I think the plan may have been to spread the defense and then attack with Henry up the middle.

I also am starting to believe the Ravens forget their game plans and just fucking wing it when they are down a score.

Went back and watched a good chunk of the game again.

Definitely bullish on Baltimore going forward. First half especially you could see where the gameplan was to run the ball and have Lamar get the ball out early on passing downs.

I'm pretty sure that was due to the inexperienced line (first game reps for those 5 as Stanley/Linderbaum did not play in the preseason) as well as KC's success sending Cover 0 in the AFCC.

I really wonder if getting the starters some preseason snaps may be the better call as opposed to them coming in cold against the fucking Chiefs of all teams.

Regardless, the offensive ceiling is high with Likely breaking out and Henry being a force. The defense held Mahomes to 1 TD, stuffed Kelce, and really only were beaten by Rice being schemed on linebackers.

I have a feeling KC/Baltimore is going to happen again this season... and am looking forward to what both teams look like as they figure out their new personnel.
