He was offered pretty much the exact same deal that Jefferson got.
4 year, $140mm
$90mm guaranteed; $30mm signing bonus
It would have made him tied for Jefferson as the highest paid WR in the NFL.

Apparently the sticking point was the timing of the guaranteed money. He wanted it all right now. Bengals wanted it to be a rolling guarantee paid out throughout the life of the contract - which technically isn't a guarantee if they were to cut him (unlikely). Basically - Chase wants the bag now.

Keep in mind that he's currently under contract for 2 more years. These negotiations are technically a year early.

As a fan - I don't like the way Chase has handled this entire situation. Attending practices but not participating. Now saying he has zero intention of signing a long-term deal. I'd trade his fucking ass now and get what you can. Maybe a 1 and a 2. Sign Tee to the deal Chase declined, then use those 1st and 2nd rounders you get for Chase to draft Offensive Linemen - something this team has needed drastically for 10+ years.

Chase is starting to smell like a diva, and I have no interest in that bullshit. Move him.
The NFL cannot allow the inmates to run the asylum like they do in the NBA. This kind of shit needs to get shut down. Stop caving into the divas that want more and more money after they already agreed on and signed a contract

I actually think the NFL contracts are bogus the way they are structured right out of the draft, so having these type of conflicts are inevitable - especially for skill positions that are often dominated by younger guys. It's not uncommon for newer players to be in the Top 10 of their position after just a year or two.

They set it up that way to eliminate the constant hold outs from Day 1 guys, but there isn't enough allowance for guys that perform at an elite level. I'm sure it will be addressed with the next CBA - but that's not scheduled until 2031.

As for Chase - I don't really fault him for wanting more $$$. Football is his job - and (when he's healthy) he is indeed a top WR in the game.
I just don't like the way he handled this situation - at all. He's obviously a "me first" guy.

Tua, his friends and family, team, are going to run him into the ground for that sweet, sweet cash money...

Also, the NFL is too big to fail, they don't care.
I'm not a member of his family obviously but it was reported his mom wanted him to retire after his previous concussion.

Getting ready to head out to the Chiefs game. I’ve been under the weather all week. Hoping I can make it through without shitting my pants.

The ads I've found to be the most annoying over the last few years are the "hilariously funny" ones starring NFL players & coaches. The Chiefs lot are particularly notable for this.

NFL players and coaches aren't actors, and it shows.

Patrick Mahomes can throw a ball and Travis Kelce can catch them. As soon as I see either one of them advertising something, though, I immediately don't want to see them any more.
