Bringing back this thread from the OG grave because we’re about to hit another milestone at 100K.(all time high-92k today)

There is no cryptocurrency that compares to Bitcoin. For many reasons.

I’m not here to convince you, just going to post things that will be interesting to anyone interested in Bitcoin and where it’s going.

If you want to ask questions, discuss and add to the thread, feel free.
If you want to argue about how some other crypto is better or say stupid outdated shit like calling it a bubble, I’ll probably just make fun of you at this point.
If you feel it’s too late to buy some. It’s not.
People said that at 20k
And again at 50k
There will be people that say the same at 100k and 250k. They’re morons.
Bitcoin will be worth(at least) $1M per coin in our lifetime, and even higher into the future.
I’m always buying. Always stacking. Not interested in dumping the best performing asset since it’s inception for fiat that keeps getting printed and devalued, it makes no sense.

Well when 10,000 are “printed” every minute, it doesn’t seem likely Doge gets very high. Regardless of how hard Elon tries to pump it.
It’s simple math.
Memes aren’t value, that’s just the way they pump it so they can dump.

Would it even be worth it to throw small amounts in BTC?

I'm talking like 250-1000USD.

I don't know shit about this stuff and my advisor doesn't deal with it.

14,400,400 minted every day making a total 5 billion a year added to an unlimited supply- no capped supply for Doge.
If you bought it at a few cents, great you made out. But I don’t see any long term usage of Doge that will be sustainable.

You remember how back in the day people would gift small bonds or whatever? 100 bucks here, 50 bucks there.

That's kinda what I'm asking.

Yes! I recommend a dollar cost averaging strategy for everyone I talk to.
There are reputable places like River | Invest in Bitcoin with confidence.
Where you can buy small amounts and/or set up automatic buys to buy a little bit every day/week/month, whatever is more comfortable.
It’s a long term hold, so you just keep buying a little at a time and hold for at least 5 years is my recommendation.
I’ve held for longer and use Bitcoin here and there as money when I want to buy for the most part it’s just saving in something better than the dollar.

If you buy the dips, and even the highs, eventually you will make out because of the supply dynamics.
The U.S. is about to start buying for a strategic reserve and I’m sure other countries will try to front run.
Even if there are major “corrections” and dips, those are temporary.
I just don’t see the end of the runway on Bitcoin any time soon.

What I think makes most people fail to understand Bitcoin is it’s many technical characteristics as well as a very misguided understanding of what money is.
Understanding what money is- not dollars or euros- but what money is in general terms is key. Someone’s understanding of what money has been through out history and what the future digitization of our world economy is going to mean for the future will impact their understanding of what Bitcoin can be used for.

I’m not going to make claims that Bitcoin will be the next form of money for the world, but it certainly has all the properties to be utilized in some way regardless of if it becomes the world reserve currency or not.

You can download a copy of The Bitcoin Standard book at the following link for more on this thesis.

Most people don’t want to do the work to understand this shit at a deep level. Unfortunately that’s the best way to approach it. Put the time in and learn because it’s as important as learning any basics in finance/economics.

So, I can use River to purchase BTC.

I need a separate wallet to store it, yes?

And then with the wallet, I need to keep a physical copy of all the info?

River will hold whatever you want to buy in the short term until you’re ready to learn about the different types of wallets and things.
Yes you should have back up seed phrases but that’s just like words stamped into metal, I’m sure you could figure out some great creative ways to do that.😄
There are a few different custody solutions available and some more coming as more development happens.
The more you have, the more you will learn about the options and see what works for you. It could be very simple or very complicated, that’s up to you.
But I always advocate self custody for many reasons. But I understand that there are levels to this and starting out, you don’t have to worry too much about self custody.

That seems easy enough for a technical retard like me.

I may have to keep picking your brain.

The favor shall be returned!

No problem.
And yeah things are getting very easy now that people are building and developing solutions specifically to make it easier.
