Ron Paul used to call the AMA a group of gangsters 15-20yrs ago.Interesting thread. I did not realize that the AMA has a copyright on medical billing codes and gets a cut every time they are used.

They created them about 60 years ago so that doctors and hospitals and Medicare all spoke a common language. But they kept a copyright on them, so no one can use them for free. So, curious, WHY are they getting a percentage of all Medicare billing code revenue? And what are they doing with it? Anyone know how much $ it is?

Their journal, funding research, and mostly political donations that entrench them further. Thanks oblongo! So what do they do with the money, exactly? And curious, why is their code so valuable that people would pay for it? I mean, I don't see why someone can't just come up with a different code (e.g., 1 for this ailment, 2 for this other ailment, 2a for this derivative of said ailment, etc. etc.) and quit paying high fees. Seems nuts to me. Anyone know?
That's my concern. He could turn on trump and cause all kinds of shit if he doesn't get what he wants.a democrat and an opportunist. Definitely not someone to be trusted
