So my wife and I go all out at Christmas time to give back to the community that supports us all year round.
We have done a lot different things over the years, food pantry, walmart giving tree, a tree for the chamber of commerce festival of trees.
Wasn't happy with the way it turned out with the chamber function this past year. I asked multiple times which charity the funds raised were going to until I finally got a response that it goes to fund future chamber activities.
Fuck that, wife and I haven't been a member of the chamber for years and was never a fan of them, seemed the only time we heard from them was when they wanted money.
So this year we decided we are going to do our own tree in the restaurant and sell tickets for it. Wife and I went shopping yesterday for a bunch of stuff. We buy stuff for a family of 4, boy and a girl. We try and aim for 6-12 years old because you never know who is going to win it.
We also get stuff for the parents they can use. 100 dollar gift certificates to the grocery store, gas station, jewelry store, our restaurant, hair salon, walmart, 100 gallons of fuel oil, etc.
Got to go old school with the board games. That has always been my one requirement.
I also have this on order, we did a jeep last year that we stickered out with our restaurant logo. It was a huge hit. Going to do the escalade this year.
So this is the point of contention between my wife and I, she wants to sell tickets for a dollar a ticket. I want to limit them to 100 to 200 tickets at a higher price point, Say 25 dollars.
What do you think the best way to do it is. I just know on a busy fri/sat night it's going to be a huge pain in the balls filling out 50 tickets for someone.
We decided we are going to donate the funds to the sanctuary that we took the cats to, they are really hurting for money. We are also going to have ornaments of the cats that are up for adoption if people want to adopt or sponsor one.
I will post a pic of the tree after we get done decorating it today with everything we have so far.
