I think SMU is about to get fucked. It would be criminal to put them in. No way they do it.
Nothing to do with the SECI dont think Bama should get in. I just think they will because of 'SEC' and the name on their jersey.
Even as a Buckeye fan I can't really disagree with this.Nothing to do with the SEC
Alabama and Ohio State have received preferential treatment the entire playoff history
And then assuming Texas beats Penn State, that sets them up to get absolutely fucking BOATRACED by Oregon. The layout of this shit is confusing - made a bit worse by the Pac12 falling apart.
On the CFP layout it says 5 Conf Champions will qualify, followed by the next 7 highest ranked teams.
The 4 highest ranked Conf Champions get a bye. The 5th highest ranked Conf Champion will be seeded based on ranking.
Oregon and Georgia get byes - that's easy enough as they are Conf Champs and are ranked in the Top 4.
Are the other 2 byes Boise State (10) and Arizona State (15)? Assuming Clemson (17) doesn't jump them, they'd be the next highest ranked conference champions.
If that's the case, Clemson probably drops to a 12 seed with their Auto-Bid championship. My assumption is they'll play Notre Dame @ 5. The rest of the seeds are a bit wonky because even though they say they don't care, my assumption is they don't want conference opponents in the first round.
So...
12 Clemson @ 5 Notre Dame
11 Alabama (or sub in SMU) @ 6 Ohio State
10 Tennessee @ 7 Indiana
9 Texas @ 8 Penn State
I hear you - but if it's anything like the BCS committee, they typically say one thing and do something completely different. The committee said teams weren’t going to be penalized for playing in the conference championship game. If that’s the case, then UT and PSU have to be ranked 5 and 6. The same argument they used for bama not moving down ca ne used against ND and OSU. They didn’t play yesterday and therefore should not be rewarded. And yes I am aware OSU beat PSU but that is not a consideration the committee said they will use when seeding the teams that lost yesterday.
100%I agree with you on that. Plus, I think they will manipulate matchups to get certain teams to the next round.
100%I am curious to see what southern schools have to come north. It’s one of the things I have wanted to happen for a long time.
I believe when they said they wouldn't penalize cc teams they meant you wouldn't get dropped out of the playoffs. Nothing to do with seeding though. The committee said teams weren’t going to be penalized for playing in the conference championship game.
I like that10 Indiana @ 7 Notre Dame * winner to play Georgia
Good to see you come around on this expanded playoff btwI like that
Using that as a rule, SMU would be in right?I believe when they said they wouldn't penalize cc teams they meant you wouldn't get dropped out of the playoffs. Nothing to do with seeding though.
Within reason yes. Clemson would've been out imo just like A&M would've been out bc they had 4 losses. I don't think there's an exact standard but some of the cc games made sense both still deserved to be in.Using that as a rule, SMU would be in right?
They were 8 heading into the championship game that they lost.
