The dehydration and quick rehydration is bad for the brain no matter how you do it. These guys get so dehydrated they usually don't start urinating until they have taken in at least a gallon (oral or IV). The weight of the food they eat after weighing in pretty much all stays in their body as well since their GI tract is pretty empty when they weigh in. It is still crazy how much weight some of them gain between the scale and the cage
