Well, to be fair, I think it *was* because of Rey's broken English.
He probably said something like "I need treat" (because he needed to be treated). But TK thought he was peckish & wanted a treat to eat, so he sent him to the local Shoney's.

He admitted making up the gimmick merely to react-to/troll social media haters, and find something they'd hate about him even more. He wasn't wrong...but that doesn't make it a good angle. Just cheap heat that continues to inspire "retire" chants.

It is so weird, on one hand it looks like AEW buries people who they suspect aren't going to re-sign with them, and just not use them in the hope it hurts their brand before they go to WWE or whatever (Starks/Fenix/etc)....yet on the other hand they are fine working with some expired contracts like Dustin's, and just keep them on freelance week-to-week deals.
