Thought I'd share something I just learned. It helps highlights the depth of the propaganda over the decades. We all know the media buries and outright lies to push a narrative. Entertainment is just as big a part of this.

Turns out she was white. Grisham says witnessing the testimony of a young rape victim inspired the book. Says he thought to himself if he was the dad the perp would be dead and that got the story going.
But he flips the races. The perp was a black guy who broke into a house and brutally raped and beat two white sisters. Not sure why he did it. Maybe because there would only be interest if it was a couple of white bubbas were the bad guys. And he could also weave in a bunch of southern racial tension, sterotypes, the klan, etc. Anyways, found it interesting
