Are there any fishing addicts here? if so please share you experiences, trips, tips, pics and of course bullshit stories about the one that got away :)

Ill post what I do/use to weekend bash here in Sydney Aus and later Ill share some stuff from my country of origin Fiji - The fishing there is fucking insanely good except the Dutch trawlers are fucking everything up :(

Here's my weekend slayer for flicking soft plastics and surface lures around, I do very little bait fishing unless Im offshore

G.Loomis E6X 8400 with a Stradic 1000 class reel

My boat, Stegcraft 16ft, I know she doesnt look like much but she's my pride and joy, my one toy Ive kept since becoming a dad. I run a 125HP main outboard and a 25HP auxiliary motor

My fav lure colour Atomic Watermelon!

Ill share more later most of my gear is in storage while we are between homes hence the net pics.

I hear you guys have fishing stores that go 3 levels in the US, bastards!

I haven't fished for quite a while, I grew up fishing on the pacific coast. I've caught dozens of salmon, rock cod, ling cod, halibut, lemon sole, pike, bass, rainbow trout, snapper, perch, and one Cabazon. It's like a giant ugly as fuck cod.

This thread should be good and hopefully gets me excited to get back to fishing again.

Where do you live now? Snapper is my favorite non tropical fish, theres a video of two guys pulling them in hand over fist, double and triple hook ups where they had to try and guess which rod had the biggest fish on and give it priority over the others.

Cant find it anywhere

Fishing freak right here, fish for any fish, my favourite species is the tench

Size doesn't bother me

Is that last fish a mirror carp? They go hard! And right on regarding not caring about size, I catch nothing the majority of trips i do but being on or near the water teaching the kids how to read conditions and the long lost art of being quiet (my kids) is what its about

Yes last is a mirror and also the third down.

Watercraft and being quiet are the 1st things you should learn about fishing, it catches you more fish, be patient, look, listen, think about the wind, what's the pressure for the day, will there be rain, concentrate and be alert to birds they give away a lot.

Add a quality bait, extra sharp hooks (sharpen your own) and as fine of line and size of hook as you can get away with for the species you are fishing for and you are good to go.

Best part about fishing is sitting in the peace and quiet next to the water.

Bream and flathead

Carp (Just you can see our convict Aussie carp)

Flathead at dawn

Murray Cod native to South Australia, buddhists guy fingerlings and let them go locally for good karma, most of them die because they arent native and cant compete with the European Carp but this guy has seen a few winters

Same fish netted

Thats my fishing buddy in the pic,he has all my pics on his phone and vice versa for obvious reason and we dont bother posting them cause these are shit fish so I dont have any of mine on my phone, Old mate is probably top 5 if not #1 lure fisherman in Australia, youll see better fish than these caught in Australia of course but here's were we are fishing, these fish have seen their share of lures and are very human wary

What did you catch the carp on? Looks like light gear so I would think a lure but need to read it.

Are they for the table? Apart from the Murray cod.

Oh the carp on plain old bread, we get lots of Englishmen trying for them along side us using these "bollie" things and we slay them on bread while they dont get any but they wont switch over, youre a stubborn lot!

NOTHING from this part of the river is for the table it would be like eating fish from the Ganges or Thames in built up areas.

Basically youre not supposed to eat anyting caught west of the Sydney Harbour Bridge according to the swine Government but then again we had Dolphins come almost as far up as where these were caught so it cant be that dirty and the Government lets commercial fishing trawlers catch fish west of the bridge and sell them to us but we arent allowed to do the same.

Sounds fishy yeah?

Super fishy, sounds corrupt.

Yep bread never fails, sweetcorn is good, boilies need to be introduced over time to a fresh water using natural baits to get them on it but once they see it (or any bait regularly introduced) as a solid food item they can get nutrition from they will return and hunt it out.

Water ways, yeah they bred like nothing else, its illegal here to put them back into the water so we donk them on the head real hard making sure they are dead then bin them, now and again some old immigrants will come up and insist on taking them off us to eat and due to the language barrier and the fact they come from countries where theyd eat fish from more polluted water we hand them over but not without a fight

In the UK fishing for carp has been one of main species to really take off.

If you have a lake of specimens thats in a natural surroundings it can be quite the investment, although you need a solid stocking program that doesn't introduce to many but bring on quality.

Barbell fishing is probably the next big one to go, but this time of year in the UK it's pike, perch, roach, rudd, odd tench and carp on the light gear.
