Ok people. Calm down. My inbox is flooded, the chat messages wont stop, and my phone wont stop ringing. The people are demanding a new top 10 list. Well it's that time again. We are about to embark on a journey through the greatest decade of movies, the 70's. So gentleman hold on to your dicks and ladies strap in those tits.

10. Jaws (1975) Steven Spielberg

"You're gonna need a bigger boat."

The grand motherfuckin daddy of all summer blockbusters. Intense, suspenseful, and even today, keeps people afraid of going in the water.

9. Chinatown (1974) Roman Polanski
"I dont get tough with anyone...my lawyer does."

A web of intrigue, murder, and calculated conspiracy. One of Nicholson's best performances of his career.

8. The Exorcist (1973) William Friedkin
"Your mother sucks cock in hell!"

The movie that every horror movie today seems to be ripping off. Billed as the scariest movie of all that and thats exactly what it is.

7. The French Connection (1971) William Friedkin
"Are you shitting me? That car is dirty!"

Greatest crime drama ever. One of the finest chase scenes in movie history. Gritty and dirty...just the way I like it.

6. The Deer Hunter (1978) Michael Cimino
"You're so full of shit, you're gonna float away!"

A saga of friendship and the damage brought on by war. Brutally realistic scenes that will never leave you.

5. Rocky (1976) John G. Avildsen
"He doesn't know it's a damn show, he thinks it's a damn fight!"

Probably the greatest feel good movie of all time. This film revolutionized how an audience percieves the story of an underdog.

4.One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (1975) Milos Forman
"You guys complain how much you hate it here and then dont have the guts to leave!"

Jack Nicholson steering up shit in a mental institution. At his best when attempting to get through to the patients who have given in to conformism. The nurse is the GOAT villain.

3.Apocalypse Now (1979) Francis Ford Coppola
"Part of me was afraid of what I would find and what I would do when I got there."

The best war movie of all time. A beautiful and brutal film. Captures the unfathomable horror and madness of war.

2.Taxi Driver (1976) Martin Scorsese
"You talkin' to me? Well I'm the only one here. Who the fuck do you think you're talking to? "

Theres so much I want to say about the greatness of this movie, but I will keep it short. A movie about a Vietnam vet who suffers from insomnia and takes a job as a cab driver. This is a character study of a man that slowly slips into insanity. Travis wants to wipe the violence of the streets of his city, and with nobody left to turn to and no friends, his inner demons take over.

1. The Godfather (1972) & The Godfather, Part 2 (1974) Francis Ford Coppola
"I'm going to make him an offer he cant refuse."

Yes I cheated by putting 2 movies together. I dont even know what to say. Im sure Γαλάνης @Galanis could say it better than myself. These are the greatest movies ever made. The magnum opus of cinema. Masterpiece.

If you disagree with my list, please PM me your address so I can send you a box full of dog shit. If you have not seen a movie on this list, just pick and choose and thank me later.

100% agree! My Christmas Day tradition for the past umpteen years has been to watch the entire Godfather Triology (I'm usually on my own for xmas.) Not sure how it started but no matter where I am on Christmas Day, that's what I do, every single year :)

Now a list that matters....

1972
"A woman with an unusual birth defect comes to a doctor who has an unorthodox solution to make the best of her situation."
Doctor: "Oh, that's amazing...It's truly amazing. Miss Lovelace, you don't have one."
Linda: "You cluck. I'm a woman. I'm not supposed to have one."
Doctor: "No, I don't mean one of those. I mean, well you, you don't have a clitoris. There's no clitoris here."
Linda: "Are you sure?"
Doctor: "Of course I'm sure. Here, take a look."
Linda: "Well, I'll be damned."
Doctor: "Hmm, no wonder you hear no bells. You have no tinkler."
Linda: "That's, that's not funny."
Doctor: "Oh, now, now, Miss Lovelace, please. Try to, try to compose yourself, really. Tell me something. When you get laid, that is, when you have sexual intercourse, uh, what excites you the most?"

I found it a tale with many twists and turns that kept me and my company on the edge of our seats in anticipation. The range of emotions this movie instills is truly amazing.

1973
"Miss Jones is tired of her life and commits suicide. She comes to a place where its decided if she will end up in Heaven or Hell. Because of her suicide she should go to Hell but she has the option to return to Earth and live life according to one of the mortal sins for some time. She picks lust and a few days of carnal pleasure follows."

Talk about predictable...If it wasn't for the solid acting and sound track I would've turned it off 7/8s of the way through but its still a solid pick compared to the Prize horse list.

1978
"Debbie gets a spot on the roster of the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders, which is referenced only as "Texas" throughout the movie. The only problem is that Debbie doesn't have enough money to get there on her own, and her mom doesn't want to help her, so her friends decide to help her out, and they all get small jobs around town to raise money. One day, Debbie is approached by her boss, Mr. Greenfeld, who first offers $10 to see her breasts, another $10 to touch them, and finally another $10 to suckle them. She realizes that they can get more money by performing sexual favors. She finally gets to go when Mr. Greenfeld offers to pay for everything if Debbie helps him reliza his fantasy and let him "score a touchdown".

This is an old movie but still sends the positive message to young women that their goals can be reached if they are willing to put in the time and effort. I'd classify it under self help/business.

1972
"A wealthy San Francisco socialite, Gloria Saunders (Chambers), is taken against her will to an elite North Beach sex club and loved "as she's never been loved before." There she engages in lesbian sex with a group of six women, for some reason all dressed in black, before being brought out wearing a white dress on stage through the green door."

This movie not only was Marilyn's porn debut but the movie also set precedent possibly being the first of its kind to promote interracial sex. Between that and the female sex star having zero dialog I feel there's some good lessons to be learned by all viewing this gem.

1972
"Released in two versions, the longer hard-core version was 91 minutes, while the soft-core version was only 84 minutes. The film was one of the first feature-length porn films about bisexual swinging, with the tagline: "...Experience the Possibilities."According to the narrator's voice-over, the action was set in a seaside villa in a fictional European village: "In the village of Leisure, in the land of Play, deep within the erogenous zone." Part of the sex included taking drugs and dressing up in costumes: a sailor outfit, a negligee, a nun's habit, and a cowboy costume. The sex farce told about a liberated and hedonistic married couple who enjoyed the swinger lifestyle"

Sex, drugs, bi-sexual scenes, costumes, swingers, natural women and a narrators voice over as a bonus....Order your Blu-ray version here.
Score Blu-ray: Uncut & uncensored

Have you been formally introduced to Galanis? This sounds promising.

I really can't believe how many of these I know since I was born in 1980, lots of cinematic gold. I'm going to have to get some retro movie nights set up with Big Bird and revisit these.
