For all of the hand-wringing over Bellator MMA's decision to book Kimbo Slicevs. Dada 5000 and Ken Shamrock vs. Royce Gracie III, the ironic enjoyment of low-quality MMA from the two feature fights, and for all of the furious post-fight debate over whether or not Kimbo vs. Dada should've been booked given the physical condition of the latter, there's one undeniable fact out of Friday night's event: A lot of people watched the card.

Sports TV Ratings reports an average of nearly 2 million viewers for Bellator 149, which makes it far and away the highest rated Bellator broadcast in the promotion's history.

Details on peak viewership and a ratings breakdown by time-slot will be known at a later date.

The previous highest average for a Bellator MMA show was approximately 1.6 million viewers for Bellator 138, headlined by ... Kimbo Slice vs. Ken Shamrock. An average of 2.1 million tuned in for the main event, which Slice won by 1st round TKO.

Chances are good that last Friday's card peaked during Kimbo vs. Dada 5000, which Slice won via 3rd round TKO.

bitter sweet about these ratings. its great that bellator got such a great rating, but it sucks the kimbo fight went down the way it did. the way they built the card sucked even more tbh.. they could have done a much better job building it... they could have thrown a true rising star in Caldwell on here to get him as many eyeballs as possible. fighters like yamauchi deserve a mention as well.. oh well, the sanchez fight was decent, with a great third round, and the guilliard fight had a lot of fireworks...

I don't think casuals will be too upset tho.. they tuned in for a kimbo fight... im sure they weren't expecting mayweather out there...

I also honestly liked Tysons commentary tbh lol. the dude had me giggling while watching the Melvin fight..

hopefully some ratings bleed over to the next events because there really are some good fights coming up for bmma...

coker is going to squeeze every last bit out of kimbo.. im sure kimbo doesn't demand a gigantic amount of money, but constantly brings the ratings in. the man is a great tv commodity. love it or not.

Kimbo vs Hershel Walker probably happening next :/

That one im not watching.
I'd bet on Kimbo vs Wren

And if people really want them not stop- tune into Dantes vs Galvao.

But those numbers won't be in this ballpark, so after Kimbo's next fight (whoever it may be) expect Gracie vs Sakuraba

Please Coker make Mike Tyson vs Kimbo Slice happen, even if it's special rules only, a kickboxing match, a boxing match, whatever you want it to be. Just please do it.
