Just got a little sad thinking what a great fight prime Chuck vs. JJ would have been.
I'll give you high marks for accurate grammar but prime Liddell gets embarrassed by almost any incarnation of Jones.

Liddell was good and had impressive sprawl and brawl, but Jones is the evolution of mma, chuck would lose, chuck at ATT or Jackson's might have been a better fighter.

Didn't watch the video because I can't stand that podcast, but based on reading that blurb; does he actually say that he would 'still give Jones trouble'? Or does he say that he 'still thinks if Jones fought someone like him in his prime, he would give him trouble'?

From the write-up, it sounds like he's saying that in his prime he would give Jones a good fight, not that he thinks he could walk in there now and beat him. Very different statements.

I'll assume he was referring to the prime version of himself, so before his chin abandoned him, and prior to some of those loses against common opponents. He's right that Jones is a decision fighter for the most part, but he's underestimating Jones' wrestling and his chin. That said, I'd pay to watch prime Liddell vs Jones, if they ever create a time machine to make such fights possible.

Prime Liddel was nails and he fought everyone to get his title shot. He was very difficult to take down and he banged out just about everyone. However:

He was outwrestled by Vitor
TKO'd by Rampage
Ragdolled by Randy

Jones would be a heavy favourite but prime Chuck could make it competitive, I think.

Chack had zero for Jon. Zero. Jon hasn't even been wobbled yet. How does Chack expect a KO when nobody has even made a blueprint for one on Jon yet?

I love Chuck, but Bones Jones is the undisputed GOAT he's whipping everyone.

Chuck got manhandled by Rampage.... what does he think Jones would do to him? Chuck was a great counter puncher, but Jones doesn't take enough risks to give Chuck ample opportunity to counter. Jones beats any version of Chuck, and that's what's up!

You keep saying undisputed. I dispute it. I accept your apology. :D

Ah come on man you can't deny it, Bones is whipping everyone, taking the HW belt.

Right now DC is calling RDA and asking them what the best way to "accidentally" break a foot is.

I can't deny the goat argument is like the p4p argument. Which is like the superman vs. goku argument for slightly less nerdy people, it's never going to happen and subjective. :D

Hahaha I'm not even a comic book guy, but even I know it's down to 1) Silver Surfer (Bones Jones), 2) Thor (Conor McGangster) and 3) Dr. Manhattan (GSP).

Superman is a poofter!

Even in his Prime, Liddell would have very little for Jones. The sport has evolved past that time. It's important to recognize that.

Rashad put one of the most brutal KO's I've ever seen on Chuck. Violent. Jones would wreck him, and I'm a huge fan of the Iceman.
I was at that fight live. The sound that punch made when it connected is a sound that I will always remember, but haven't heard again at any of the fights I've been to. That punch would've knocked out a bull, so I don't think it's indicative of a "prime" Chuck's chin and skills. He was a good ways past his best years at that point.

He would've had much more longevity if he'd taken care of himself. If Chuck had not partied so much and put the effort into every camp that he put into his last one vs Rich Franklin, he would've had an Anderson Silva-like reign. He hit so hard that he hurt guys with shots that no other fighter could hurt guys with. It was an amazing thing that he ended up relying on too much.

Jones out-wrestled Cormier. He would out-wrestle Chuck.

Out of everything Chuck said, the wrestling part was the part that I disagreed with most. Bones out wrestled DC, he would definitely get the takedowns on Chuck. The difference is, however, that Chuck would always pop right back up when he got taken down. Bones could take him down 15 times, but I don't know if he would hold him down. Wrestlers of DC's caliber are not accustomed to being taken down. I guarantee DC was caught off guard when he was on the receiving end of it. Also, Jones hasn't faced anyone who has concrete in their gloves like Chuck. He always has a punchers chance. All of Chuck's highlight KO losses were at the end of his career when his chin was gone. Early in his career he could take a crowbar to the face and be ok. Jon does not seem to have KO power. I give the power advantage to Chuck.

All that being said... Jones is a monster that seems to be on a higher level (figuratively and literally) than everyone else. I would be crazy not to give him the advantage over Chuck. He uses his reach and leverage very well. Chuck could clip him and turn the lights off, but the safe bet would be Bones by decision.
