Remember when someone here claimed they were banned because Mods were reading their PM's on that other forum? Well apparently their claims are true. I was banned today as well, and the ONLY reason must be because they read my PM's. I havent posted anything ban worthy...just sent some PM's inviting people here.

My guess, that other forum has copied the list of members here, and are reading the PM's there by any members here. Just wanted to pass this on, so everyone knows how unethical those people really are, and the tactics they use (if you didn't already know). I wouldn't have believed it myself, if it didn't happen to me. Stay there at your own risk
 
No wonder Jason just happened to show up over here the other day bitching....i hope Mr. @RickStorm and that other guy aren't involved as well.

Yup, assume you have zero privacy......makes me wonder about the security when buying blue names.....I was gifted my most recent blue but before that I was a PAYING member. No ethics, no morals.

Seriously makes me appreciate this place even more now.
 
I've given @Jason @mixedmartialarts.com a heads up about this topic and a chance to weigh in. He just logged in a minute ago, read my conversation, and then has gone away. Perhaps he will still respond but I find the entire situation incredibly unprofessional and immature. I was not going to say anything, but he's chosen this behavior.

It didn't make a lot of sense yesterday...
Jason, whom I have never spoken to before, joined the The MMA Community Forum accusing me of launching a plan to spam the UG. I let him know that I had no idea what he was talking about and he implied how of course I know because I could read it in our direct message system. I let him know that reading such information would be unethical and that I don't do it (itd be pretty tough roaming around the database finding USER ID 232948320 sent XXXXXXXX to USER ID 3892408320942. ) and that no other staff has the ability to read such information. That would have been the end of it and I would have just kept this private, but I'm pretty unhappy with this situation now.

He then posted once and disappeared. Today I see members with shared accounts getting banned over PMs and I can only lean towards one conclusion.

Maybe Jason will come in here and link us to the offending Gilbosh thread or the TOS on his site that stops Gilbosh from discussing any other site on the internet. But that's the only way in which I can see an alternative that the UG aka mixedmartialsarts.com staff and owners are reading your private information and so petty as to search for small sites on the internet to ban members who enjoy discussing MMA on more than one website at a time.

Either way, I am less than impressed with the demeanor and professionalism that Jason represents. I hope the rest of the staff over there are more adult.


EDIT - @Jason has reached out to me to say that he is not reading PMs. He seems convinced that there is no plan from us to subvert his site. So that's good.

I'll let you guys decide what to make of this and Jason is still able to choose what he wants to share or not share about Gilbosh being banned. I am also moving this to the off-topic forum.

Have there been instances of members from here making threads on the UG advertising for this place?

You'd think, and its been something people talked about for awhile over there and its always denied, but the way Jason came off and what he said it would tend to make one believe that they a) have the capability to read PM's and b) are reading them.

But why read them? WTF kind of PMs are being tossed around over there?
Are guys meeting up for sex dates?
 
It's rather easy to make baseless accusations. The UG got a bad rap for "reading PMs" because our shitty 18 year old code was marking things read that were not read. It still happens, it happens to me constantly and isannoying is shit because I miss important messages. We are working on redoing the site so all sorts of our problems with the old code will hopefully be fixed.

The simplest answer is sometimes the actual answer. The reason we were aware of this member PMing people about this forum is because we had several of our members email us and complain about it. That's all there is to it, no conspiracy theories. It sucks that when someone just post something as "true," everyone just jumps on board condemning the issue when in fact it never happened in the 1st place.
