It's been reported that Suicide Squad is undergoing "major reshoots" to add more humour to the movie. Seems like a strange decision given the movie is set to release in August of this year.
Given the timing of this decision and the cost attached (Tens of millions of dollars) it seems easy to suspect that the negative reception of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's dark tone is the reason for this decision.
Nothing is confirmed but if true this knee jerk reaction is just more proof that Warner Bros have a poor idea how to handle their DC properties.

Wb been fucking up dc for years. Dunno why. It's all under one studio, unlike marvel. They should give the animated department control imo. Dc animated been killing it since the 90's.

Some die hard DC fans i've spoken with said they really liked it, but could see that for the average movie goer it was dark as fuuuck.

I haven't seen it yet. I can't speak on it. Seen all the other ones though and the only one they nailed was The Dark Knight imo.

The recent animated movies haven't been as strong but the source material is based on the new 52 so that may have something to do with it.

Interesting.
I haven't heard a whole lot of positive things about it.
I'm going to see it on Sunday so I'll have my own opinion of it.

I've said it before but I didn't care for Nolan's Batman trilogy. I thought Bale was awful, Ledger's Joker was too dark, I felt Two-Face was a last minute addition and Tom Hardy was wasted as a poorly voiced Bane.
Superhero movies don't need to be grounded.

I think those movies being somewhat grounded was what drew me to them more than anything else. Yeah they were dark and Ledger played the role like a legit crazy person, but the superhero universe needs that imo, not the whole movie line, but there needs to be at least a dark corner in the universe for those of us who like to hang in the shadows or in the glow of neon.

Loved Nolan's trilogy. Hated Man of Steel. Batman v Superman was more of the same- he really doesn't understand Superman at all, and it shows.

Yeah if the source material isn't the best, you can only go so far.

Yes a big divergence from, say, The Dark Knight, that comedy romp!

And what a box office failure The Dark Knight was!

The people in charge of Marvel and DC (comic side) have sucked for more than a decade and most comic book movies from those lines have blown pretty hard:
  • Every X-Men movie after the first two
  • Every Spider-Man movie after the first one
  • Every DC movie except Nolan's Batman movies
  • Every Iron Man after the 1st one.
  • etc. etc. etc.
Only the two avenger movies and the winter soldier were any good recently

Everything has to follow the Marvel formula now if you want to appeal to the lowest common denominator masses.

I was with you until you cited Age of Ultron as a good film.
