I dont think there are any audible subscribers here, but wanted to see

About a year ago, the monthly membership expanded from just a book credit to including alot of free content under "audible channels"

There's alot of Good and bad stuff, so it'd be easy to find good stuff if I found other audible listeners

Right now in listening to a 38 min thing on pearl harbor, narrated by Martin scheen. But the majority of there he content is orignal recordings from American citizens and soldier

It's not extraordinary, but it's pretty good. Worth listening to

I just got my own Amazon Prime after piggy backing off a friend for years.

So now I've got audible too. Haven't explored much but will keep a look at this thread to for recommendations.

Oh interesting. I know audible is part of amazon, but didn't realive it was part of amazon prime at all

Do u get a certain number of credits for books per year? Do you have access to audible "channels?"

I saw something about 3 month trial with prime. That may have been a dated website. I kinda just woke up in the middle of the night and decided to tmmac it so ibe only got one eye open and the phones screen is really bright

Also saw something which says audible channels can be bought ad a stand alone for 5 bucks a month for non prime members, and comes as part of prime now

In addition to audbl channels, I guess u also get a rotating selection of 50 free books

If u ever get into purchasing audiobooks, here are some tips. Some audiobooks ate like 50 bucks. Don't pay cash for anything over 16 or 17 or whatever the monthly membership is. Ibstead, get a membership, use the monthly token to purchase the audiobook, and then cancel the membership (I don't believe there's any minimum amount of months before cancelling)

I usually do high fantasy books or comedy in tje "channels" section

But since I did the awesome true story book "the great escape" earlier this week, I guess I'm in a little "war history" type kick

Here's one I listened to this morning. Not extraordinary, but I grew up in a town called sparta from 3-18 so I've always been a fan of spartan warriors

Learned some new stuff that u don't see in cliché Hollywood depictions of spartans...some of which was pretty surprisingly

I drive a ton for my job and typically just rely on podcasts and satellite radio but since I've recently discovered the Audible/Prime connection I'm looking to add that into the mix.

So yeah... I'll be monitoring this to see what shakes out

Awesome. I'm a little booked out, bc the fantasy books are huge (30-50 hours)

Relistening to one of my harlan coben thrillers sonce they are very light lifts, but also hitting up channels alot recently.

There's a lot of gibberish stuff that I close out after a few minutes.

One of the sections I'm liking is "hold on." It's not laugh out loud funny, and some suck, but there have been a couple good ones so far. It's basically a host introducing a comedian who sets up the story. They play some of the stand up bit, then pause it and discuss mote detail of the story in real life that didn't make it into the comedy set, then continue the comedy set, pause, etc a few times.

It's a cool concept for a relaxed listen

Risk podcast is basically storytelling 10-15m. I don't like most of them (usually turn them off after 5 min), but I'll share the ones that I make it all the way through.

"A fistful of mildsauce" from Sept 8

Basically story of a dude having a bad day and getting into a fight in nyc. Not amazing by any means, but had a couple fun moments like how we have these fake conversations in our heads and play out all the scenarios before fights or confeontations happen, which most of the time, doesn't even come close to happenng... bc we...dudes...are insane

Feel good story. Not comedy really although the dude sounds like a funny dude

This one fits in with the 80s thread as it takes place in plainfield,NJ in 78 and then 81. About a brother with an adopted brother

New older brother from October 6

What you and your friend did was illegal. Tell me your friends name and I can probably convince the district attorney to let you off with probation. We're going to need his name though.

This is the first full stand up I've listened to on audible. Comedy is very preferential, but I like this girls bitchy shtick...

Jumping off this...
Not a channel, but I'm a few hours into Ready Player One and it's excellent use of your audible credit.
