SBG Ireland head coach John Kavanagh suggested the perfect fight for Gunnar Nelson after his second round submission win over Alan Jouban at UFC Fight Night 107 last night: A fight against two-time welterweight title challenger Stephen Thompson to determine 'the real Karate Kid'.

Whats next for gunni? How about this summer we find out who the real karate kid is in the @ufc ? #GunnivWonderboy pic.twitter.com/mvffhFSKWi

Nelson, who infuses Karate with high-level Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, used his striking to set up a savvy guillotine choke against Jouban at the O2 Arena in London, England. The Iceland native dropped…

That's the first thing that coach Kavanagh has said that didn't make me want to ram a rusty nail into my scrotum as self-flagellation for even reading anything he has to say.

Why would Wonderboy take this fight? Nothing to gain here for Thompson.

Wonderboy will fight Lawler, Condit or Nick Diaz next.

He's not high enough on the charts for Wonderboy. Great fight....just not yet.

I'm a big Gunni fan but if Hendricks couldn't outstrike or takedown Wonderboy, how would Nelson do it? He'd be picked apart on the feet IMHO.

On the mat, he subs him quickly but he has to get it there. Be interesting to see what strategy they'd employ.

This wonderboy has been damaged by Woodley , and he doesn't look the same.

I wouldn't be mad at any of those choices, but I think Wonderboy needs a fight to get back to his game. He's been very tentative in his last three fights, and I understand that he was fighting killers but I think he could benefit from a fight like Gunnar. Gunnar is a stud but I think he's more manageable than the long-time vets you mentioned. I feel like Wonderboy needs his instinct back, and a fight with Gunnar, even though it is a tough fight, might be the perfect level for him to do that.

Nelson is 10 times the striker Hendricks is. There's no comparison.

This could be a great fight, or a total snooze fest if both guys decide to wait for the counter.

He got a draw the first time, many thought he won the second.
Imo Woodley won both the fights because he did the most damage . Wonderboy wasn't able to do any sort of damage to Woodley in both fights . I was supporting Wonderboy in case you thought otherwise.
