My highest is nine, after a childhood incident involving a frozen pizza. Also, although not stitches, I've have a wound cauterized by silver nitrate. That's no fun. No fun at all.

Had a few in my chin when i was really young.

9 in my knee when i fell off and broke my mates motorbike. Was trying to turn it round whilst basically static on Dirt road. First time I'd ever ridden. Pulled the accelerator but had the back brake down. Bike skidded as my feet slipped. Foot peg annihilated my knee.

I didn't feel a thing. Adrenaline probably. When i tired to pick up the bike my leg gave way. I looked down and my white trainer was red. My jeans a deep blue/black. Pulled up my jeans to see what was going on. Cos of where the gash was the jeans pulled the cut apart as i pulled them above the knee. Looked as big as my whole knee. Wasn't that bad but as a 15 year old it fucked me up.

The guy who's bike I'd just broken's mum was a nurse and came to see if she could help. The cut had white fat tissue hanging out all over my leg. Looked weird. She poked it back in with her finger. To this day still makes me shiver...

42 in my knee when I cut the shit out of it playing football.

I've had other injuries that required stitching, but they were all under 20.

42 actual full sized stitches? Was the doctor paid per stitch?
I don't know if he got paid per stitch or what. I was a kid - maybe 12. It was a deep ass cut - you could see my kneecap and my shin bone. Most of the stitches were on the inside that dissolved after time. On the actual surface of the skin "Frankenstein style" it was probably 20 or so.

I got tackled and landed on a (look out for that, look out for that) metal thing that was in the backyard. It was a metal insert for a clothes line pole that was sticking up about an inch from the ground. Not very forgiving vs flesh - tore me up pretty damn good.

13. My father hit me in the head with a wrench. Well, that was what I told the doctor in the ER anyways; the fact was he was installing a pine beam in the ceiling of our family room with a socket wrench, and the wrench flew out of his hand when the head of the lag bolt got pulled into the beam. Since it was 1977, no one cared that I said my dad hit me in the head with a wrench. They probably assumed that I deserved it.

I have the least number of stitches on this thread and I describe an event where I got my ass kicked so badly that I can't remember the details. Yeah, I'm super proud of that one LOL.
