HS wrestling changed 10 years ago to limit weight cutting. Now they measure your hydration when weighing, have a minimum body fat %, and limit you to 1.5% of body weight loss per week during the wrestling season. It doesn't seem like it would be that hard to implement a similar rule set for professionals, starting (for example) 30 days before a scheduled fight. My complaint about this is that if you're going to regulate a fighter's body and lifestyle all year round, you need to pay them a salary. Between USADA, the difficulty of cuts and the extraordinary amount of multi-discipline training fighters are required to take part in to be proficient, they need to be salaried employees. It's also fairer for the guys and girls who actually can make weight without a problem. To lose an opportunity at win money, of the night money, or even in some cases show money essentially means they're screwed if their opponent doesn't make weight.
Full time regulation of an athlete's body should mean a contract for guaranteed money and benefits throughout the year plus fight purses. 4 billion dollars says it can be done.
I agree with that, but HS wrestlers live in a house with their parents and have all their needs met and theoretically supervised.HS wrestling changed 10 years ago to limit weight cutting. Three may be a bit excessive, but I agree with your point. Maybe two fights?I would give him another chance. But imo, the ufc should make a deal with him. He needs to have three fights before he gets a title shot and he has to make 155 on the nose, not 156 in all of those fights. He does that and wins of course, and he gets a title shot.
Yeah, three is a lot. Two would be good.Three may be a bit excessive, but I agree with your point. Maybe two fights?
