Haven't been this excited for a fight in years!

These two are in peak physical condition both are at the pinnacle of their careers.

We get bombarded by the UFC with overhyped promos of match-ups that really aren't that good ...then it seems like every other fight is now for an interim title in order to try and use that to promote a fight and get a few more PPV buys....well tomorrow night ...no title will be on the line and the UFC really hasn't pushed this matchup for its true value.

Despite no title on the line or much chatter ... TRUST ME!

This fight will go down in History as one of the greatest showdowns in MMA. I envision Mousasi Vs. Weidman being talked about years down the road like:

Gomi Vs. Diaz
Liddell Vs. Wanderlei
Fedor Vs. Cro Cop.

Its hard to believe this will be Gegards 50th fight in his career and his is only 31?!?!!?

Mousasi career has stretched nearly 15 years and has fought a who's who of MMA greats from Akihiro Gono, Hector Lombard, Mark Hunt, Jacare Souza, Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou, King Mo, Melvin Manhouf, Renato Sobral, Keith Jardine, Ovince St. Preux, Dan Henderson, Uriah Hall, Vitor Belfort, Lyoto Machida and Dennis Kang...while fighting in multiple organizations over the years including the long lost PrideFC!

Then you have Chris Weidman who only has 15 fights compared to Mousasi's 49 ..but the level of competition Chris has faced has been at the highest level! Especially in his last 8 fights dating back to 2012 when he has faced the likes of Damian Maia, Mark Munoz, Yoel Romero, Luke Rockhold, Vitor Belfort, Lyoto Machida, and then of course the legend that most consider the G.O.A.T ...Anderson Silva!

It's been a while since fight fans has been gifted such an intriguing match up, but tomorrow night I'd highly suggest when Chris Weidman and Gegard Mousasi music hits and the lights dim...you get focused for what surely will be a fight that will go down in history as the fight of 2017!!!!!

I disagree, it has humpfest written all over it. Wrestlers on 2-fight skids always just hold on for dear life and wait for the decision. It will be shit.

I don't know lordofthepies, many fight fans have the impression Mousasi will get taken down and grinded out over the rounds. I feel the reason fans have this idea is because they flashback to the April 2010 matchup with King Mo where Mo did just that in order to secure the decision. That was Mousasi's first real taste of fighting a high level wrestler in Mo Lawal and remember that was nearly 7 years ago.

That fight was a fight that needed to take place for Gegard in order to progress in his MMA development, because prior to that 3 round wrestle-fuck decision loss to King Mo Mousasi was on an all time high coming off the epic Dream Tournament Grand Prix win and destroying Babalu in Affliction. He was on top of the world and thought he was unbeatable. King Mo putting on a wrestling clinic that night helped Mousasi understand his biggest weakness and from that point on he worked extremely hard to correct that glaring flaw in his game.

IMO, Mousasi has come a long way since that cool crisp April Night in Nashville, to the point I feel he is absolutely ready for what Chris Weidman is about to present him Saturday night....it won't be easy but Gegard will have enough training and preparation to defend against the weakness King Mo exploited many years ago.

This will definitely be fight of the year, if by fight of the year you mean a brutal knockout at the hands of gegard mousasi

I don't know if Mousasi will do enough to stop Weidman, but I think he'll probably put a beating on him although he will definitely get put on his back at least once by Weidman. Mousasi by decision.

I figure this fight to be one sided with Mousasi picking Weidman apart.
But it is a fight and anything can happen.

Rooting for the moose for sure. Our last Dutch/Armenian hope :)

Has a good work ethic, fights often enough, no bulshit kind of guy. Weidman is super tough, and I think he needs to make it boring if he wants a win. I believe they're evenly matched with each their own tools that can bring them a victory. I agree that this fight has a lot of potential.

Prediction nailed.
talk about an anticlimactic ending!

disappointed in how it went down, Had Weidman 10-9 in Round 1, Round 2 Mousasi looked to be turning it up ....

Gegard got the win but I think he would have finished Weidman in the late 2nd or 3rd Round...as Mousasi was starting to shut down the takedowns with Weidman appearing to fade / gas.

Oh well...we'll most likely see a rematch next if the UFC continues with the way they do their match-making.

Weidman won the 1st but he was looking for a way out of that fight.

Respect to Gegard

Would love to see it, UFC hasn't been exactly welcoming to Mousasi ...Rizin / Bellator.

Only downfall about Bellators rise in popularity is that they are owned by Viacom ...
It was the last fight on his contract and I'm sure Rizin or a Russian league willl offer him more than the UFC.

That would be crazy if Mousasi walks ..but the writing is on the wall and the way the UFC has been operating in the final Zuffa days and since the takeover by WME-IMG it may be in Gegards best interest that he flees this aimlessly drifting ship with no course.

Fast fact: Middleweight and Featherweight are the only men's divisions in the UFC where they haven't lost any ranked fighters in the last 15 months. Seems like that's about to change though.

Man, Ari Emanuel is such a shitshow of a promoter.

Gegard to Rizin?
the problem is moist fighters cant get it out of their head that the UFC once was the pinnacle of MMA, but now its a mere shell of once was. They will hang on until their stock is worthless.

The most upsetting thing about this fight was that it was stopped just as it was getting really good
