Separate from my ninja gear, I always wore a black gi. I never put any patches on it, even though I was asked to do so. I'm fucking straight up Ronin.

I've never understood this either. Its like some arcane unwritten rule like a bat flip after a home run in baseball that will catch you a fast ball to the ribs at your next at bat.

I never wanted to put someone on base but I damn sure would run a fastball head high and inside on the next trip.

I just throw my gi's in the dryer never had an issue.

It's always fun to look at cool guy's black gi after they've washed them twice and they're all faded, lol.

Sorry I should have said washer/dryer. I just treat them like any other piece of laundry. They will shrink a little on their first wash/dry but they usually fit on the big side anyways.

Our school only does blue or white so it's all I have. I like the look of a beat up old white or blue gi. The appeal of the black gi is that "look good, play good" and you look like a gangster. But once the deep black color goes away, you lose that cool factor. I've also seen guys not allowed to compete in them, which may be a consideration.

I have a black karate-gi from c. 1993. The rest are all white.

Any color looks fine to me, so long as the carpet matches the drapes.
