Card of the year on paper so far but as good as you expected?
The Branch and Maia fights disappointed for me but the main undercard was superb. Shame about the Poirier fight.

It's always difficult to gauge how good it is when you are awake at 5.45am as you kind of want it to end by then but overall I thought it was decent.

You guys?

Barely stayed awake for the end. Last I vividly remember is the Alvarez-Poirier fight. That was a bummer.

I really enjoyed some of the fights. The Alvarez/Porier fight was stellar until the unfortunate ending. Watching Alvarez turn into a killer when he was hurt is the stuff that you remember years later.

The Maia/Masvidal fight was also a good fight between two highly skilled guys who neutralized each other well. It was interesting hearing Maia praise Masvidal's jiu jitsu afterwards. It played out the way two highly skilled competitors sometimes happens. I would love to see it go 5 rounds.

Overall the card was pretty entertaining for me.

  • Christensen - Antigulov... Didn't care and honestly don't remember it.
  • Benitez - Barzola - Didn't care but was surprised at how bad Moggly looked. Or Maybe surprised at how good Barzola looked.
  • Aguilar - Casey - Better fight than I thought and I was glad to see JAG get her ass kicked. For some reason she's always bothered me.
  • Vick - Reyes - Didn't care. Fuck Team LI.
  • Sherman - Coulter - Sherman has a hell of a chin because he leaves it out there to get tagged. Fun Rock'em, Sock'em Robots style fight.
  • Knight - Skelly - I was hoping that Knight was going to win. I had no idea that he would be able to control Skelly on the ground the way he did. He looked fantastic. Super fun fight.
  • Alvarez - Poirer - I'm pissed. This was just warming up and getting fantastic. I'm a little pissy that Dustin wasn't given a second to clear his vision because we were robbed of five more minutes of violence. I can't wait to see them run it back.
  • Jotko - Branch - Pretty much what I expected. Jotko is a striker that seems to lack power. Not a fun fight. Branch was underwhelming.
  • Edgar - Yair - Holy shit was Frankie an animal from top position. He absolutely mauled Yair. I expected him to win but not quite in that fashion.
  • Maia - Masvidal - It's a Maia fight. Anyone that expects a barn burner is crazy. I was impressed at his ability to eat Jorge's shots. I was impressed with Jorge's ability to defend. It's also nuts how Maia has a gravitational pull that just sucks people to him and allows him to do what he does.
  • JJ - Andrade - One sided as hell. Just completely picked Andrade apart. Wanderlei's style of winging hooks doesn't work against someone as technical as Joanna. I'm impressed by Andrade being able to eat so many shots though. She's a little bull.
  • Stipe - JDS - JDS should have kept kicking and kept his damned back off the fence. Stipe needs to keep his damn chin down. But hot damn does he pack some power. I'm curious to see what's next for him. Cain, Ngannou, Werdum again? He's a monster but has some glaring holes that can get you in trouble quickly at Heavyweight. Hated seeing JDS lose. He seems like such a nice dude.

I'm not sure if it lived up to the hype but if anyone really broke the card down, I think it met their expectations. I was pleased and would gladly go back to Hong Kong to buy this card all over again.

pretty good
Maia Masvidal and Dustin Eddie are unfinished business....no real ending to those fights IMO

wish the Big boys had fought a little longer

Edgar surprises me again

I give it a 6/10

Sherman Coulter was pure gold

Eddie was breaking him or had broke him
Dustin knows he took the easy way out...could see it on his face as he got his wind back after they stopped it.

Eddie on Queer street is really some dangerous shit....wounded Lion syndrome to the max

Great post, only a couple things to ADD
it was Barzola I was impressed with, completely underestimated him
- Coulter is a fucking animal, that leg was fucked and all it made him do was bring it harder. Sloppy fight but fuck did I love that
- i was super impressed with masvidals defence, maia finishes that fight in the 1st 9 times out of 10 with nearly anybody else in that position. he even made a fantastic defensive move at the end of the 1st to get maia off his back and end the round in a good position. I really hope this doesn't completely kill his push, guy is legit
- oh, and fuck team limpdick

This card wasnt a barn burner, the prelims out shined the main card. It was the typical run of the mill event, nothing special except the repeated fuck ups by the refs. Other than that was a decent card.
